Parking query
This 'No stopping at any time' traffic sign in Emerson Street seems to be routinely ignored. I wondered if that's because the council police this, but their staff only work days.

Calling all Hawke’s Bay locals with paranormal stories…
I’m researching Hawke’s Bay’s paranormal history for a potential book and am looking for people willing to confidentially share their experiences.
Anyone with a paranormal or unexplained experience in Hawke’s Bay is welcome to get in touch, but I’m especially interested in hearing from:
- People who live or have lived on Bluff Hill.
- Owners or staff of businesses with a haunted reputation.
- People who attended schools believed to be haunted.
- Current or former police officers, emergency service workers, healthcare staff, or others whose work may have exposed them to unusual experiences.
If you’re willing, I’d also like to arrange a friendly interview or visit the location.
Everything will be kept confidential, so please don’t post your stories in the comments.
if you’d like to help, please email me at - [email protected]
Thank you!
- Ben

Winter Art Deco Festival
This coming weekend is the Winter Art Deco festival in Napier. Even if Art Deco isn't your thing, there's some interesting food and drink offers at Napier eateries that might be worth your money. While there isn't a car parade, there will be vintage cars on display by the Art Deco Trust in the restored Women's Rest building at memorial Square.
Anyone keen on vintage fashion will want to take some time off work to visit the market in the Pacific Life Saving Building behind Ocean Spa on Friday. This is a one-day event not to be missed as there will be handknitted garments made locally from vintage patterns and in New Zealand wool.
Programme here: Art Deco Festival Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand

Printer toner cartridges to give away
Hi Hawke's Bay, My Brother laser printer has died and I have some part-used toner cartridges to give away. They cost me about $160 each and I'd prefer to have someone else get the remaining use out of them instead of just throwing them away. Ideally I'd like to give them to a school or charity.
The part numbers are: TN-237 and there are four: black, yellow, cyan, and magenta.
Please check they are compatible with your printer. (I pulled them out of my old HL-L3210CW laser printer.)
PM me with phone number if you are interested. Pick up in Napier.

Family visiting Napier from overseas?
Can’t work out where to advertise this so advice appreciated. My place will be empty for couple months I thought I’d like a family visiting family here from overseas to use. Won’t be charging Airbnb prices.

I built a live hangout map to meet friends and make local meetups easier.
Kia ora,
I know it can sometimes be a bit of a mission to lock down a crew for the weekend or meet new mates as an adult.
To make it easier to get offline and connect, I’ve been working on a project called r/KiwiHangout. It runs on a global interactive hangout map, but I've set up this dedicated space specifically for NZ to help people find locals with similar interests, and I'm really hoping to get some activity going in Hawke's Bay.
You can just drop a general pin on the map to show you're keen to hang out, or you can easily host a casual meetup. If you want to organize a quick coffee, a walk, or a pub catch-up, you just put the date in your post title (like (04/07)) and select the local flair. The map automatically reads it and drops a live event pin for people nearby to see.
It’s still brand new and we are looking for some early adopters. If you’re wanting to get out and meet some new folks, come give it a spin and let's get some pins on the board for the city!
