Official News Hi! I'm Cody, the new Community Manager!

Is this what it feels like to get your Hogwarts acceptance letter?!

Hi everyone! I'm Cody, but you can call me Vaknar. I’m honoured to share that I recently joined Avalanche Software as the new Community Manager. TL; DR: I'm here to be the bridge between Avalanche and you, the Hogwarts Legacy community.

First things first, who is this guy? Well, I’m a midwestern boy but I've been living in Southern California for a few years. Enjoying frequent beach days and catching the occasional wave whenever possible. I’ve been a community manager in gaming for several years, and, of course, I’m a Harry Potter fan! I grew up reading the books, waiting outside the theaters for each movie release, and now I’m ecstatic to be a part of the Hogwarts Legacy team!

I'll be honest, Hogwarts Legacy really pulled me into the wizarding world, and the further in I got, the harder it was to put down. I won’t pretend that I’m an expert quite yet, but I think I'm well on my way! Between the game, the lore rabbit holes, and this community… I reckon it won't be long before I can rattle off obscure trivia tidbits without thinking twice.

I’ve only just started, and while I'm still finding my footing, my goal is straightforward: to make this a space easily worth showing up to. That means celebrating the amazing things you're creating, making sure your voices and feedback reach the right people, and keeping things welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

When I'm not kicking back in the Hufflepuff common room, you'll find me lurking in conversations, listening, interacting with the community and probably asking a lot of questions — I’m very interested in hearing what players think about the game. I promise I'm friendlier than a Chinese Chomping Cabbage, so don't be a stranger and feel free to say hi!

– Cody (Vaknar)

This is the closest I can focus on my Slytherin character's face. It beautifully captures the details, I think. Maybe I can see yours?

Question Missed chance to learn unforgivable curses.

Hello, yes I know this topic has been brought up before but the last thread I've seen of it was three plus years ago. I finished Sebastian's quest line many hours ago in my playthrough, didn't learn avada kedavra, and chose to turn Sebastian in. A few hours of doing other random quests and collecting stuff later I realized I never got avada kedavra because it was not clear that the choices I made would disqualify me from learning the spell. In the past 3 years have they seriously not made any changes that would allow for you to learn the spell from a different source or changed any dialogue so that it's clear you will not be able to learn the spell?

Even if none of that's true I'd be happy to go back five or however many hours in my save, but I only have six autosaves and they auto save every three or four minutes so as far as I'm aware I can't select an earlier one. Is it possible I could go back in my computer files and find one from hours ago or do they not stay there that long? I've been looking forward to learning this spell for this entire playthrough and I'm really peeved that the game is designed in the way that it is.

P.s. for that one guy who's going to say I'm a hypocrite for turning in Sebastian and wanting to use the spell, I was going to kill trolls and goblins working for a terrible cause, Sebastian went against the will of his entire family and slimed out his uncle. There's a difference in my eyes. Now I'm debating if I should even finish my playthrough

I really like the ember dash and wild fire brooms. Which broom do you like? ✌️

Information Found an easy solution to the missing moth bug

Post image
5 Upvotes

For me it was the moth in the Slytherin dungeon. It was completely missing. I tried the "changing graphics settings and reloading" method but it didn't work.

I've watched this tutorial and it gave me the idea that the whole problem is with the frame rate.

What worked for me (on PC):

  1. I was standing in the Grand Starcase

  2. Changed my GPU to integrated graphics in the settings

  3. Reloaded the game

  4. the game is a slide show now, had 7-15 FPS

  5. Walked slowly, withouth casting lumos on the moth mirror, to the place where the month should be and IT IS JUST THERE.

TLDR: Switch to the integrated graphics, survive the low FPS and the moth will be there.

Official PC Modding Professor Fig Mod

Begging, praying, pleading for someone to upload a mod that gives Professor Fig's outfit to the MMC. Downloaded the creation kit to try for myself and obviously I couldn't even begin to wrap my head around it. Would commission if that's something people do

Discussion Why are there Three Broomsticks in Hogwarts Legacy?

I came across a video where Sebastian(?-I didn´t play Hogwarts Legacy yet and know the characters only vaguely) say "Quickly, let´s get into the Three Broomsticks!" But I do remember Slughorn saying in both the film and book, that he remembers when it was just One Broomstick. Wouldn´t that make Slughorn centuries old? Or was he too dr*nk and just blabbering nonsense?

Discussion Is Hogwarts Legacy too hard for me as a gaming dumbass?

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, read the books multiple times, same for the movies, blah blah blah. I’m thinking about getting the game but I am notoriously horrible at games and struggle paying attention to make it through combat scenes or anything that has several steps if that makes sense? Also just a lack of “gaming skills” in general.

For reference, the only games I’ve completed without help myself are Lake and Life is Strange 1.

I’ve played some other decision games with people before and enjoyed them, plus stuff like Stardew Valley, Coral Island, Sims, Split Fiction, etc.

Is Hogwarts too complex for me and a waste of money? How much fighting is really required? Is it ok to free roam around the castle and map?

Discussion I know you often see a dragon flying around on the world map but never knew one actually flew in the world itself?

Playing last night was in a village I’d funnily enough never been to before as I walked in to a house I'd never seen before I heard this noise around the house like accio was being cast near by as I got away from the house the sound would stop.

Then as I come out of said house I could hear this weird sound so I just happened to look behind me and just seen a dragon taking off randomly in to the sky? I've never seen this anywhere else on the map of course apart from when we save the dragon but this was nothing to do with any storyline.

' "sebastian, I can't believe you just did that!"

"hurry before Madam Snelling catches us!"

prank after prank, our laughter echoed through the streets of Hogsmeade, now but a hollow void of what used to be.'

Discussion I’m scarred

So I just need to vent about this.
I just finished the main storyline and decided to do some side quests, nothing serious just taking them on when I see one. Silly me saw a side quest from an house elf, started talking to her while she explained the whole buying the shop thing, went to the owner and everything. I’ll admit I was sure there would be more to it than just buying the shop but I thought it would be something light and easy kind of like the first room of requirement quest.
Oh how wrong was I! Nothing could have prepared me for that mini horror movie. Like the quest itself, the puzzles and the fights they were easy but I literally got chills every time I saw those mannequins. I just finished the quest and found myself staring at my screen muttering to myself “what on earth was that”.

Question Ancient Magic Hotspots

So, I’m trying to unlock all the Ancient Magic Hotspots to get the full meter, and I have one last left (11/12). But the map won’t display the ancient magic spot anywhere, and I’ve cross checked with other websites too, and it seems I’ve got all the locations.

Not sure what to do? fyi: I’m done with the three trials and have unlocked the fourth and last (San Bakar) trail. Just wanted to get the fifth meter before I did

Question hogleg fanfic recos

Hello helloooo

I started reading Hogwarts Legacy fanfics about a year ago and have devoured a ton of them. I’ve read most of the usual favourites—Sebastian goes to Azkaban and gets redeemed, post-Hogwarts stories, or fifth-year retellings (which I enjoyed, but I think I’ve finally had my fill for now!)

Does anyone have recommendations for fics that do something a little different? I’m open to modern AUs (as long as the characters still feel like themselves) and crossovers if they’re done well. I’m basically looking for something fresh to chew on!

Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately I don’t have any space in my bag to catch them all, but the whole pack is shiny, I’ve never seen this in any of my three playthroughs.

Question For those who want spells like Fiendfyre & Obliviate (and similar, deadly spells) in the sequel:

How would you justify fiendfyre being everlasting and thus possibly eventually consuming entire regions, with this consequence of regional destruction not mentioned in the lore?

Confundo is also another popular suggestion. How would obliviate and confundo be in the same game but not clash against each other for serving the same purpose in combat?

Thank you.
