Okay, I'm mulling over the new info given to us about the Laufey storyline, and some things are clicking more than most. Specifically, I'm more interested about the implications of the Power of Hope.
I understand that all magic is borne from the Everywhen, and it all returns there. That's the cosmic rule that's now set-up for this new game. That means that all the greek gods who were possessed by the box's magic inadvertently returned the magic back to Everywhen.
Only problem is that the Power of Hope was never returned to Everywhen. I think it's very clear now that, Out of all the powers that were returned or are present in Everywhen, Athena was fixated on the power of hope, and wanted to use it to herself. She can't use something that's not in the beyond yet.
This is where Kratos comes in. Rather than giving it to Athena, and by extension returning it to Everywhen, he releases that power to the people of Greece. Now gods can't abuse that power for themselves.
To me, this is a callsign to a change in order. There was a certain orderr to the construction of the world. Primordial entities born from the magic of Everywhen and assume the creation of the lower realms. They die, as all things do, and the magic they possess returns back to Everywhen to presumably start a new cycle of life somewhere else in the cosmos. Creation goes on, rinse and repeat.
If you ask me, if even a single piece of that magic is unable to return, the cycle changes. Heck, if we want to go even further, then all the magic of norse mythology should've went to Everywhen after Ragnarok. But, again, we know that didn't happen since the Nine...Eight realms are still preserved.
Zeus didn't create a pantheon killer. He created a cosmic rule breaker. And I don't want to think about how integral the Power of Hope is the Everywhen.
