Class Question Schedule possible with part time job and research?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I am working at a large f500 company as a swe over the summer. Over the last couple of weeks they have been asking if I would be willing to come on as a part time contractor during the summer for 20 hours a week. They are offering me pretty good money (in my eyes) and I would be basically the main devops engineer for the app so I would learn so much. The issue is my research is really starting to pickup steam and I obviously have a full schedule of classes pictured below. I am going to drop abstract algebra for sure and I have taken math 3670 so hopefully prob theory isn't too bad. I don't have a great gpa rn so i am trying to fight for it this semester.

Any advice? has anyone experienced this before?

Class Question Is this schedule impossible: cs 3251, cs 3600, math 1554 and lmc 3403

I’m taking cs 3251, cs 3600, math 1554, and lmc 3403 this fall. I don’t care for all As, i just need to keep my hope scholarship (I have a 3.2) and pass these classes. Does this schedule look completely impossible? What I mean by that is, will I have enough time to sleep 6-8 hours a day and go to the gym 4-5 (even 3!) days a week and still keep my sanity (I’m probably not gonna socialize this semester). I consider myself not as intelligent as 50-60% of the Georgia tech student population pls keep that in mind and thank you😪

Class Question Is this courseload going to be too much? (CS Major)

Im a rising 2nd year and currently am planning on taking the follow this fall:

CS 3510

CS 2200

15 hr/week part-time internship

2-credit VIP

Random elective (like us history or smth easy)

I want to be able to dedicate a good amount of time towards recruiting, so im a bit worried abt the difficulty, especially with 2200 and 3510. Would it be smart to swap 3510 for 4400? Should i take 3510 just to help with interview prep? Thanks!

Class Question Has anyone taken Math 2603 with the current professors.

I was looking at classes I might be taking for my first semester this fall, and I have one requirement for Discrete Math (Math 2603). Neither of the professors (Blekherman, Grigoriy, and Yang, Tianchi) available has a Rate My Professors rating for this class, so I was wondering if anyone who took it previously could let me know how it was. Thanks

I am starting college this fall at Uga and I am planning to transfer to gt after one year for computer engineering. I know that my main focus should be keeping my gpa high but how important is ecs for transfer? What would you say the importance weightage would be? 70% gpa, 30% ecs ?

I’m a conditional pathway for fall 2027 and wondering if I’m allowed to use my AP mechanics credit to fulfill Physics 2211 even though it requires a lab component. I’m an ISyE major

Prospective Student Recieved First Generation pathway but for spring 2028 and realized Im cooked

So for context, i recieved first generation pathway off the waitlist, and i'm a ee major. Im going to uga this year but my problem is the fact that i got spring 2028 and not fall 27 conditional. all my friends got fall 27 and the main issue with this is that im going to be doing into engineering classes as a seocnd semester sophmore. I have a couple of friends at gt who are doing intro engineering classes right now as a freshman. Doesn't this mean ill be veyr behind. Is there anythign i can do? Ill have all transfer preqs done by end of this year and all math except diff eq done after this year, so what else would i take next fall. Also do i stay at uga or trasnfer to gsu because I dont want to rent an aprtment for half a semster next year, and I could rent an apartment with current gt friends next year, be at gsu for first semester, then just transfer. Any advice helps, please.

Other AI/OR vs Analytics & Data Science + minors?

Hey everyone,

I'm an incoming first year ISyE major, and right now I'm leaning pretty heavily toward the new AI/OR concentration, although I'm also considering the Analytics & Data Science concentration.

I'm also trying to figure out what minor would make the most sense. I was looking into the AI minor, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to minor in something that's so similar to my concentration. I'm also considering CS, Math, Econ, or something else idk.

For people in ISyE, which concentration would you recommend between AI/OR and Analytics & Data Science? And what minor would you pair with it to look good for jobs and such?

Thanks! :)

Class Question CHEM 2312 Online?

Has anyone taken orgo 2 online? I am co-oping fall semester but worried I will forget everything I learned in chem 2311 by the time I get to take orgo 2. Was wondering if anyone has taken orgo 2 and had it successfully transfer back to GT. And yes, I’ve looked on the transfer equivalency table but I still wanted to ask.

Prospective Student TALENT INITIATIVE PATHWAY SCHEDULE

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m attending GGC and I’m on the Georgia Tech Talent Initiative Pathway (Civil engr). The screenshot I shared is my Fall 2026 schedule, and I’m planning to take Calculus II, Physics I, and English II in Spring 2027.
Does my schedule look good, and is the overall course load manageable?

Thanks.

Class Question Talent initiative pathway GSU perimeter to GT

Hey, I’m from London and was offered TIP for fall 2027 after the waitlist closed. I am not currently committed to any college in the US so in order to pursue this pathway I will need to attend community college. While going to the US is not a problem, I would like to do my first semester fully online. Will GSU perimeter college be a good community college for transferring? And will I be able to go fully online for my first semester with no hassle, and am I allowed to do online classes for the GA tech pathway? Thanks! I plan on majoring in maths and computing.

Registration Help Freshman class advice

I had my FASET orientation yesterday and I took intro to physics, princ of chemistry, and linear alg all in my first semester.

Ppl have been telling me to drop chem since it would be hard to have both chem and physics at the same time, is this true?

I feel like since both are intro classes it won’t be too bad, but I also don’t want to be too stressed out my first semester.

Some context, I was previously supposed to be a bio major but switched to ece, so I’m pretty good at my sciences.

Prospective Student Incoming REPP student at GSU Perimeter looking for advice on transferring to Georgia Tech

Hi everyone,

I'm starting this fall as a REPP (Regents' Engineering Pathway Program) student at GSU Perimeter with the goal of transferring to Georgia Tech for Mechanical Engineering.

A little background: I already have some college credits from Lanier Technical College, and my current cumulative GPA is around a 3.0. I know that's not where I want it to be for a competitive transfer, so my goal is to improve it as much as possible over the next couple of years.

I'm looking for advice from anyone who transferred through REPP or transferred into Tech in general. What GPA should I realistically aim for to have a strong chance? Besides grades, what made your application stand out? When should I start getting involved with engineering clubs, projects, research, or internships? Is there anything you wish you had known when you first started at Perimeter or before transferring?

I'm really committed to making the most of this opportunity and would appreciate any advice or lessons learned from people who have been through the process.

Thanks in advance!

Other Year 1 Distance Math Chances

I recently got my AP scores back and I got a 5 on Calc BC with a 5 on the AB subscore portion of it as well. I am worried about my odds of getting into the year one distance math program because I got a B in Calc AB and an A in Calc BC but I don’t think I have a 3.5 math GPA because of the B in Calc AB. Is there any chance I can still get into the program?

Registration Help Need help with switching lab sections without dropping the lecture

I’m currently enrolled in phys 2211 and I need to switch my lab section to a different time due to a schedule conflict.
The issue is that OSCAR forces me to drop the entire course if I want to switch labs, and I’m terrified of losing my seat in this specific lecture class. I don't see a 'Change Section' option in the dropdown menu.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Should I just contact my academic advisor, or is there a way to do this in the system that I'm missing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
