I am an iron level player this is my first SNK game but I've played many fighting games. I've noticed in my near 500 games that I've played online that trying to learn pressure and being able to score the hit first is primarily the most important part of this game. Yes the defensive mechanics are a whole different story among other nuances you'll need to know in order to safely land the first hit.
My experience with this game was at first I tried learning all the big damage combos and that was bad *at first*. I understand now that the big damage combos mean nothing unless you can get that first hit! Where am I at right now? I need damage, like right now! Lol I just played a gold level player and was able to trade my 7 interactions to his 5 where he killed me. He hit me with 2 big combos, the others were just chip+pokes. Meaning he hit me 5 times, but mostly dropped my life bar with those 2 combo interactions.
What's changed? Some legendary wolf from discord showed me this wicked bnb, I'm sure it drove him nuts how long it took me get it down lol but prior to him showing me this, I literally focused heavily on being able to try and get that first hit, or at least use my plus on block stuff in order to put some pressure on my opponent. This bnb he showed me has literally turned the tide of the battles I fight, when I can hit it lol but it's at least given me a fighting chance in some of my matches!
Tell me then, is what I'm saying actually true or is there something else I'm missing here, or more important to learn? I'm new to labbing in fighting games (always hated going into training mode), but CotW has me locked in. Tell me about what you lab in order to improve your skills.
