If you don't know me, I go by Purplepanther, I've been a fan of Fire Emblem Engage since I first got it. As my introduction to the series, it made the biggest impact on me, and have played through it dozens and dozens of times with different challenges.
Recently, I offered to take on the reigns of ownership from Flux after seeing his post. I've always enjoyed our little community we've had here, with people pushing the limits of creativity and difficulty in the game as well. I want to see that continue to thrive and improve on the community experience.
Therefore, new Flairs have been added, a long time ask of the community. General flairs have been added for now, but that's where you come in my friends.
What specific Flairs would you like to see added? Would you like to see a flair for specific Emblems and characters? Or would you rather have one flair for all Emblems and characters? I want to hear what the community wants, specially for something that's been wanted for quite a long time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me, and comment your recommendations for flairs, upvote your favorite ideas as well.
I also ask a favor on the community. Since I am new to modding on Reddit, I ask that if you see anything or anyone that might be breaking the rules, please report it manually to me so I can take appropriate actions. After looking through the mod menu, AutoMod deleted posts and comments that were otherwise perfectly acceptable. If that happens to you, please use the Mod Mail so I can see if it truly broke any rules or not.
Thank you so much for your support guys, it truly means the world to me seeing you guys use the flairs and edit them as you please.

So I've been playing a lot of NintenDoku recently and found out that there is a community driven ranking for different games. To my shock I found out that Mario Kart World is taking the first place, Engage second and Sword / Shield third.
So why is Engage and the other games more beloved by critics than by fans?
I'm doing a run in hard mode and I feel like this map is impossible. Reinforcements keep coming, I can't move fast enough and I never make it past 3 zone destructions, so I really want your advice.
I just got Seadall and Corrin in the main story and I have all dlc Emblems. The characters I normally use are Céline, Chloé, Louis, Alcryst, Diamant, Ivy, Hortensia, Pandreo and Jean plus all mandatory units, but I don't mind using other units.
So if there's anything that helped you clear this map, please share! :)
Some thoughts on the team, which was built unashamedly with the top 11 community tier list characters + Goldmary / Veyle / Mauvier...
1) Alear - started as Divine Dragon and after damage fell it was starting to lack went full support mode with Byleth. However found out int the end how OP Engage+ is thus reclassed changed it into a more damage role. Paladin preferred over Wyvern Knight as too many fliers already in the team and my Lucina went to Merrin Wolf Knight so Cavalry synergy. Also someone to use the S tier swords as Georgios is great for emblem engage attacks. Went with Marth in the end as Spd was neutral before and after Engage+ and Marth works quite well before Engage+. In hindsight would have reclassed it to Paladin a lot earlier. Only downside is no real 1-2 range until last battle but it is not too bad.
2) Chloe - ended up as a very strong mixed attacker with both Levin Sword and Killer Axe and Sigurd complements with range and Momentum. Was my most natural Engage+ partner with the bond ring as losing Sigurd in the boss phrase when everyone is close together wasn't too much of a tactical loss, and the Spd+ more than makes up for the loss in Bld which Chloe appreciates. Canter instead of Speed+5 as Engage+ loses Canter+ from Sigurd and Chloe is frankly fast enough in Griffin Knight. Used my free crystals to upgrade Ridersbane as worthwhile sometimes when using Override.
3) Kagetsu - standard build with Eirika. Probably could have replaced Speed+5 with Sword Power+10 for more damage if I did it again.
4) Amber - Roy is broadly standard build, and Lunar Brace+ was chosen over Axe Power+10 to benefit also the bows. Frankly towards endgame despite massive Str Amber falls off vs. Panette and Kagetsu. Maybe could have gone with Wrath instead of Lunar Brace for a bit more Crit guarantee. Alternatively if redoing again may swap Leif with Mauvier and make a mini Panette with Wrath and Hold Out / Canter but then either need to keep Leif at Bond 9 (losing access to Vantage++) or not use Engage in enemy phase. Either way Amber is not going to be as strong as either Kagetsu on Panette.
5) Panette - standard build with Ike. Found out that Hold Out is not really needed with good management so Canter has more value. Silver Greataxe for Great Aether (wish she can get S Axe!)
6) Goldmary - as mentioned was my final member to the team and probably for her role the best choice out of the rest with very little investment as she comes in Hero and quickly gets the double chain attack skill from Hero and Dual Assist+ makes her a great chain bot. As she ends up being mostly played defensively given limited damage potential and wanting to keep HP at max, it became my Byleth bot as well and actually have to say works out surprisingly well. Maybe could have swap it with Hortesia's Micaiah to create a second staff bot (Micaiah gives Staff B rank which allows warp rewarp) and then Hortesia can benefit from built in Divine Pulse for offensive staff usage by frankly by endgame I rarely use offensive staves as I play defensively and not chasing LTC.
7) Merrin - avoid tank, with Avoid+30 rarely gets hit and more often than not gets ignored. Works well with Lucina with dagger poison chain synergy, bonded shield working well due to own high avoid and 100% for Cavalry (Pandreo great for enemy phase killing). Can actually use Camwenhan very well due to her high avoid for clean up damage when needed. Levine sword as decent mix attacked, but really Merrin is for utility, not carry.
8) Mauvier - idea was to make him Adaptable defensive tank with Arms Shield as he benefits from good Str and Mag. In reality defense is good but damage is subpar (apart from killing flying enemies with Hurricane Axe. Hit+30 means no need for any engraves and also the fact that he could actually use all 4 weapons with Adaptable. Could have the potential of swapping with Roy with Amber as above but may be a minor optimisation only.
9) Ivy - standard Lyn build to fix her low speed.
10) Pandreo - standard Celica build (more Mag is good) and free crystals upgraded Seraphim is amazing in the endgame plus emergency healing with Celica's staff when engaged.
11) Citrine - standard Olwen S built. Lasted all the way to endgame and worked well (did not really fall off and with chain attacks can still ORKO).
12) Veyle - standard Corrin built. Hit+30 so no engravings needed as and she is more utility than damage (although respectable, no chance to double) and gave her the second boots. Super useful control character - the Connector Paralgue she really shined by blocking enemies with both the engage attack and dragon veins.
13) Hortesia - standard staff bot with Micaiah. As per above could have swapped with Byleth tp benefit from built in Divine Pulse for offensive staff usage by frankly by endgame I rarely use offensive staves as I play defensively and not chasing LTC. Quality time for some passive healing, can be replaced with Divine Pulse but really not necessary.
14) Seadall - dancer is just amazing. Gave him boots, Shielding Art for +5 Def (but frankly he never gets hit) and Alfonse S for Spur Attack which is probably the most useful ring usage for him him. Quality time for some passive healing.
In terms of skills, Canter is standard, Canter+ limited by well luck and bond fragments. In fact if bond fragment not limitation would have gotten Quality Time+ for Hortesia and Seadall as well.
Weapons are all focused on Killer weapons which are cheap to get to +5 and had all the crit engravings allocated to them. Not sure if Brave weapons would have done better and also has a much higher cost, but Kagetsu could have used a Brave Sword possibly.
Staves - I only used the AoE Warp a couple of times (Leif's Paralogue against the Ballistas) but otherwise I really only end up using Treat from the well as I am cheapo and don't want to spend money on items. Offensive staves I also rarely use but Silence probably is the best to shut down enemy staff users from afar in maps where they try to freeze / silence / break you.
Items - being the cheapo I don't ever used the +2 one off drinks and a bit of Vulnerary or Antidote here and there. All the Pure Water is actually theoretical, I just play defensively.
I think this is it. Thank you for reading and also the posters that commented in my previous posts, I had a lot of fun playing the optimisation game (as much as the game itself) but after 120+ hours I think I am done with Engage!
I have started a Fire Emblem Marathon a while ago, just to replay the whole series before Fortuned Weave comes out and maybe form new opinions, because its been a while since I last played these games. Engage is one Im looking forward to the most, because I remember the gameplay being amazing. My question is, how much does the DLC trivialize the game on maddening? I kinda still want a challenge and I dont want the game to become too easy with the DLC Emblems.
Hello! I'm on my 3rd Maddening run and I want to do a "Royals + 4" run. The 4 units I plan to use are Sage Anna, Wyvern Jean, Yunaka, and Seadall. The first 3 I think have no direct affiliation to the kingdoms, and I need the dancer
Some questions come to mind:
Since I plan to use both Anna and Jean, both high investment units, I am finding it hard to plan for it. I got away with investing Anna to level 10 at Ch.7 using Great Sacrifice, and made her a Mage Knight. Not sure how to do it now with Jean in the picture
I know most of the maps pre-20 have 12 deployment slots at most. In my previous runs, I just added the 13th and 14th units once they were available to round out the final team. Can I get away with rotating my bench and be some levels behinds?
Any more tips for this run, compared to the more generic Maddening runs?
Same OP from this, my due thanks to Giant Caliber once again for offering advice on how to beat the last chapter.
This was my first Maddening run on Random Growths, and it was the second biggest lesson I've had from a FE game of why the Kagetsus (and Ryoumas) of the franchise are needed: if one project gets screwed out of good level-ups or a strategy isn't what the game asks out of you in the end, a unit that has great bases and growths, can still play catch up and is literally built to help the player will be a good replacement. This run was planned with characters like Alcryst, Timerra and Warrior!Jean, but Timerra was doing nothing much (what a shocker), and Alcryst and (shockingly) Jean missed one too many STR level ups around the midgame and had to be phased out with Kagetsu, Panette and Sniper!Lindon*, who had better magic and was primarily utility, an anti-flier, and important to get Kagetsu and Panette up to speed (literally!) during their training arcs (I also wanted to get the funny crits that his personal facilitates.). The last replaced unit was Étie, who had her final moment to shine during the avalanche map and was phased out with Seadall for the endgame.
Contrary to what happened some runs ago, Lapis performed pretty competently this time around, picking up the scraps after my main combat units. Chrom being "Marth, but also has magic" was especially important during the midgame, when the Levin Sword is at its best. This was the time when her combat shined most, helped by the abundance of axe enemies.
Technically, the MVPs were Kagetsu, Panette, Ivy and Zelkov (who enabled the former two with enchanted killer axes), but the unit who surprised me the most was Céline, who remained pretty competent with the help of Starsphere and used several different emblems through the run. Celica, Marth and Leif in the earlygame (people were right, her Quadruple Hit is pretty darn strong), Hector in Solm, and Soren and Sigurd for the lategame (plus one-offs with Byleth and Corrin, and the occassional return to Leif and Hector in lower-stake maps). Once Mauvier came to the team, she was doing so much combat that I simply relieved her from staffing duty. At this point, I'm pretty convinced her native class is one of the most versatile in the game when you account for the DLC. Want her on support? She'll make good use of Corrin, Byleth, Chrom and Micaiah on top of being a great staffer. Want her doing combat? Inherit Starsphere and slap whichever offensive emblem you like most on her.
This was my first time donating to Firene and Brodia, thus getting a proper surplus of materials. However, donating to Solm was a mistake. It left me a bit more strapped for cash than I would've hoped for a good while with how much forging I was doing.
On the whole, this run was very stressful sometimes, even after Panette, Ivy and Kagetsu were fully online, and I had to rely more on "cheese" strategies like Bonded Shield, warping, enemy-phasing with Soren, and ensuring crits and so on to get the best results in the last stretch. Sometimes, emblems were swapped around as needed, and sometimes I "tested" chapters to get optimal initial turns, and of course, there's the whole matter of needing replacements at various points. I wanted to keep myself from using Seadall intentionally, and I can't say Éite was useless through the run (Chip Damage + Override + Momentum + Tyrfing can get you some actual roles a team), but in the end, practicality overrode self-imposed challenges.
I tried doing a funny Ike!Wyvern!Gregory + Quick Riposte + Levin Sword + Hurricane Axe build, but this turned out to be a bad idea with the precarious state of my team at that point, so good old B staves griffin with Micaiah it was (also, he married Alear).
