Anyone else without power? We’re staying at a hotel here and just after a LOUD boom all of our power went out. Our hotel has a handful of buildings and ours is the only one without power currently.

We went to talk to the front desk and were told that this doesn’t happen often, and when it does, it’s quick to come back on. Wellllll that was over an hour ago now. Wondering what to expect. Mainly concerned about what we have in the fridge and our phones being charged for tomorrow.

I guess I’m just hoping for insight from others?

Hey if you're interested in coming out to support an indie film this weekend my movie will be playing at the Historic Park Theatre. It's a feature film with some powerful performances about a powerful topic - palliative care/hospice. That might sound a little grim but the movie's also got its own humor and uplift to it. I’ll be spending a week in Estes Park primarily to visit RMNP. I’ve been there a bunch of times but only gone as far as Milner Pass. I was thinking about taking a day and going all the way to Grand Lake and check out the west side of the park. What I’m wondering is a day enough time to visit Grand Lake and the sights on that side of the park, or should I make that a side trip after I’m done in EP? How much time does it actually take to see Grand Lake? Mainly for the better half to go shopping and to have lunch. We would leave EP early to beat timed entry and return after timed entry.

I am in Estes for the summer and one of the things on my bucket list is to try out rock climbing out here. I would do it with a guide as I have no gear here, but they get quite expensive for one person. The guides get cheaper the more people apply together so I was wondering if there is anyone interested in sharing such an experience so that we could apply together.

First time visiting here, my boyfriend and I are wondering what the general attitude is towards cannabis? We don't want anyone getting upset and calling the police or anything like that, and we'd like to be respectful of residents lol. We can't smoke on the property since it is a rental.

Edit: after reading everyone's suggestions and warnings, we've decided to get a small dry herb vaporizer. We also will not be emptying it onto the ground at all :) thanks! We definitely do not want to be the asshole tourists, especially not the asshole tourists that start a wildfire.

I believe we are visiting during peak Colorado peach season and would love to know where we can get fresh and local peaches in town or anywhere along the way up from Denver along 7?

Every September the elk rut turns Rocky Mountain National Park into one of the best wildlife shows in the country - bulls bugling, sparring, and herding harems, often right along the road and out onto Estes Park's lawns and golf courses.

Here's the part most people don't know: elk were completely wiped out of Colorado by around 1900 from overhunting. The herds you'll hear this fall descend from a few dozen elk trucked in from Yellowstone in 1913-1914 to restart the population from scratch.

The rut peaks mid-September to mid-October, so the bugling is roughly two months out. This map has recent confirmed sighting - a preview of where they're concentrating before the show begins.

I’ve been having a hard time finding any souvenirs for him or his music here though and was wondering if anyone could help me. My fiancé and I are eloping in Estes in November and we are scoping out locations for photos in September. We are getting family photos done at Lily Lake and then going into town for more photos.

In town for a wedding & only have two days left. Two young sons have enjoyed seeing the wildlife best -from elk to pikas. If we would like for them to see a moose or big horn sheep, where/when is the best opportunity?

Has anyone stayed here or even had friends who’ve stayed here? How was it? Are you male or female, and age?

I couldn’t find many recent online reviews. Maybe 2-3 within the past year. It also seems that all of their rooms are co-ed. So is it safe for a woman to stay here? The price is really great for the area, but it seems like there are no other hostels located in Estes or close to RMNP

Hello! Coming to Estes park in August, and looking for picturesque hikes that are max about 3 hours long (shorter ones fine too, just that’s the limit she copes with in her carrier). Any recommendations? Also how does the timed entry work - how far in advance do we need to book? Aware we will have a 7 hour time difference to contend with so no idea how this is going to work with a baby, and may make timings tricky!

Also we will have to do a mix of kid friendly restaurants around 6pm for dinner, and takeout/pick up food to take home so that we can eat after she goes to bed. Any recommendations (particularly for food we can bring back that is actually nice and won’t make us sad about missing out on eating out) would be gratefully received

So we're staying just east of Estes Park starting the 18th of this month. My wife is concerned about the wildfires. Everything I have seen so far doesn't really concern me. However she came across an emergency evacuation for Estes Park the other day, which seems to be fake news, but regardless there are obviously some wildfires. Just curious on the current situation out there. Is it a concern? Is the smoke an issue for outdoor activities? Issues site seeing? Thanks for any input!

I’ve been looking for hours trying to find a base to rest at night between hikes. I can’t get concrete information. The only thing I care about is that it’s legal to either sleep in my car or pitch a tent (preferred), and if my car can handle the road (mid August)

Hi All! I'm planning to hike from Bear Lake up to Flattop Mountain, and then down North Inlet to end in Grand Lake. We're aiming for mid August.

I've done Bear to Flattop several times before so I'm quite familiar with that first leg.

Has anyone else done this long trek in a single day and have any advice? There's an alternate route down via Tonahutu, is that better than North Inlet?

We plan to start around 3am as we think that will get us below tree-line before any afternoon storms and we have a shuttle set up to bring us back to the EP side after we're done.

Any other advice or things we're not thinking of yet?
