Any Interesting places in Dundee?

Brief summary: Me and a few friends have some clinical courses in the University of Dundee by fall of 2026. We want to explore interesting places in Dundee and the area around Dundee.

For some context, me and a very close friend will probably rent out a room or place somewhere near the campus, she also likes to shop and explore places so if you could give us some interesting places we'd appreciate it!

edit: we will also explore south of the uk on our way to Dundee, we just wanted to know some interesting spots there.

Hit and run incident (City Quay)

Last week someone crashed into our parked hire car and disappeared without leaving any details or reaching out to us in any way.

This took place in front of the garages on Thorter Row, some time between 4.30pm on Friday 10th July and 9.20am on Sunday 12th July.

Wondering if anyone witnessed this hit and run or might have had a camera that caught something?

Best places to meet people in Dundee?

Could anyone here recommend places and events that happen frequently to meet people?

I’m mostly into movies, gym, photography, coffee and things like that. I'm not really a drinker so pubs wouldn't really be for me.

Maybe run clubs or movie events? Would really love to make some friends in a new place.

I'm not from the place and moving over in a few weeks

I'm a guy and 27 :)

Thanks!

Counselling Placements

Hi folks! I've just moved back to Dundee after a few years in Glasgow, as part of an HND in counselling I have a quota of placement hours I have to fill, I've spent the last few months contacting places and have had some calls but can't seem to get anything nailed down, is there anyone here that can help point me in the right direction? Approximately 3-5 in person hours a week if possible, I can drive and can travel to surrounding areas.

Things to do?

Hey guys, me and my girl are going to be spending a few days in Dundee so she can reminisce about her uni days. She’s super excited, it’s so wonderful to see her wee face.

She’s knows a good few spots but as Glaswegians, we (I personally) feel out my depth.

Seeking local inspo and input for things to do, see or go.

Appreciated muchos

Timex

Do people in Dundee still have issues with Timex? Like, if you had a Timex watch there would you be considered a scab?
Or has everyone moved on?
Thanks for any genuine insights on this! Always wondered!

Edit: I don’t have a Timex watch. Was just wondering what Dundonian people’s opinions were on it. Comes from a good place. Love Dundee as a city.

Lasagna Love - cook for your community or request a free lasagna

My name is Michelle and I’m the UK Coordinator for Lasagna Love. Lasagna Love is an organisation made up of volunteers across the UK (and around the world) who cook and deliver homemade lasagna to people in need, at no cost and with no strings attached.

Maybe it's a family struggling financially, someone recovering from surgery, a parent adjusting to life with a new baby or just someone going through a tough time. Whatever the reason, we believe that a warm meal and a little kindness can go a long way.

You simply request a lasagna, and we match you with a volunteer in your area who will lovingly prepare and deliver one to your door. It’s all about community, care and connection with no judgment and no complicated process.

I’m reaching out because we have wonderful volunteers across the UK who are ready and eager to cook, for anyone who could do with some lasagna love! If you could use a little help and a comforting meal, please put in a request through https://lasagnalove.org/request-a-meal/ or you can nominate someone to receive a meal - https://lasagnalove.org/nominate/

We’re also always looking for more volunteers! Whether you can cook once a month, once a week, or just whenever it suits you, every lasagna helps brighten someone’s day. It’s a small act that has a big impact. If you would like to volunteer, just register here https://lasagnalove.org/volunteer/

If you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them here, or you can head to the website.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and I hope to see some of you sign up, whether to request a lasagna or to make one for someone in your community.

Feed families.  Spread kindness.  Strengthen communities.

Hi everyone! We're planning the upcoming year for the University of Dundee Anime Society and wanted to get some ideas from anime fans in Dundee.

What kinds of events or activities would you actually want to see from an anime society?

For anyone interested in keeping up with the society, our Discord is here: https://discord.gg/fAU7TSka5H

Hiking group

Hi, I’m looking for a hiking club in the Dundee-ish area. I’m 26M and am looking for a group to make some friends after moving here recently while doing an activity I enjoy. Ideally this would be people of a similar age. I’ve tried to contact the Fife young walkers but they seem to be inactive these days. Anyone part of a group or know of any that they could put me in contact with?

Electronic bass music

Hi fellow ravers- I'm moving from the states to Dundee in a month and I'm a huge fan of electronic mid tempo (like 100 bpm) bass-heavy music. It's the only music I've ever found that can get me dancing in public and for that alone it's really had an incredibly positive impact on my life.

After a lot of searching for bass shows around the Dundee area and as far as Edinburgh and Glasgow, I'm realizing that this is going to be very hard to find in Scotland. Even most of the dubstep and music described as bass there is not anything like what I'm talking about. I'm finding that most of what I see there that is bass-adjacent is drum and bass or has a very high bpm.

What I'm looking for is a mix of electronic and hip hop, which here is called bass hop, glitch hop, space bass or dubstep, widdim or riddim, wubs, etc. (although widdim and riddim tend to be way slower).

Examples are Opiuo, Daily Bread, Probcause, Distinct Motive, LSDream, EasyBaked, Chamberlain, Rezz, Grizz, Subtronix, SVDDEN Death, Knife Party, stuff like that. I have had so much fun over the past years exploring this music that's very available and growing here in the states but seems invisible or nonexistent in the uk. I can't tell you how much I need and love this outlet.

I would be really surprised if there aren't up and coming DJs there who create this kind of electronic music, even if the subculture there is a very small group. (btw I am more than willing to help organize events to encourage this genre there, if not for selfish reasons. Art and bass in the park? let's do it.)

Anyway, can anyone tell me if there is a scene like this anywhere in Dundee or if they know of any bass hop artists, even if they're new? Any group that I could join to connect with these type types of DJs? If I have to build a scene there I am more than happy to do it. I need to release my inner swamp monster on a regular basis. bass-is :)

Taza too good to go

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has gotten a too good to go bag from Taza and can let me know how much is usually included in it?? Ordered one for tonight and debating getting a second one, unless it usually contains enough for two people to share. TIA 🥰.

What the busiest/quietest times for the JD Sports Gym?

I've decided to return to the gym after a 7-year lull and was wondering what times are best avoided for that gym? Previously I used to go the Aberdeen PureGym at about midnight because it was near empty but obviously that's not an option for this place.

Also how busy is it going to get once the students come back?
