This might be the most comprehensive evidence you ever see of the evil, deranged, and genocidal mindset of Israeli civilians. Hamzah Saadah is a 23-year old Palestinian activist who exposes IDF soldiers openly admitting to having committed war crimes, bloodthirsty children, and every Zio inbetween.

**SAFETY**

This subreddit strongly advises AGAINST doing prolonged (3+ days) dry fasts if your only source of information or experience comes from what is discussed on this subreddit. If you are an experienced faster and are receiving outside help/medical check-ups, then your knowledge obviously extends beyond what is discussed here. You are otherwise putting yourself at risk of potentially worsening your health as the scientific literature is extremely limited on this subject. Please remember to fast responsibly.

If you begin to feel uncomfortable or unwell, you should stop fasting immediately. Other worrying signs may include high protein in the urine, high fever, and fainting.

**HUMAN STUDIES**

* Anthropometric, Hemodynamic, Metabolic, and Renal Responses during 5 Days of Food and Water Deprivation

* EPILEPSY AND DEHYDRATION

* The dehydration treatment of epilepsy

**ANIMAL STUDIES**

* Increased fat catabolism sustains water balance during fasting in zebra finches

* Intermittent drinking, oxytocin and human health

* The ‘selfish brain’ is regulated by aquaporins and autophagy under nutrient deprivation

* When less means more: Dehydration improves innate immunity in rattlesnakes

**BIOLOGICAL STUDIES/THEORETICAL PAPERS**

* Unmasking the secrets of cancer

* Cell hydration and mTOR-dependent signaling

* Effects of acute and chronic hypohydration on kidney health and function

Please note that we probably will not add studies that have loose/indirect associations between "dehydration" and physiological mechanisms of action. From the most reliable human study we have, they state that "on day 4 and 5, all participants had a controllable feeling of thirst, but none showed any signs of dehydration." I think it's best we avoid words that have negative implications (i.e. "dehydration) when discussing dry fasting, and unless the study is extremely valuable or shows very large effect results, it's probably best to avoid adding these studies that will clutter the list and make the whole thing look more extreme than it already is. You can still post the studies for discussion, they may just not be added to the list.

Feel free to post additional links in the comments as you find them and I will add them to the list.

General Dry Fasting

Upvotes

Hi!

I started my dry fast yesterday. The plan is dry fast for 4 to 5 days and refeed for 2 to 3 days. The goal is to do this for at least one month to see the results that I can achieve.

I have experience in water fast and dry fast. But mostly in water fast... my longest water fast has been for 21 days and my longest dry fast has been for 4 to 5 days.

During my longest water fast I lost 15kg. SW: 120kg | FW: 105kg. I did it in January 2025. So I hope I can lose the same amount of weight this time or maybe a little more.

32 years old woman | SW: 105.5kg  | 158 centimeters.
I'm posting here because I want to have a way to express myself how is everything going with this. So I'm willing to do it every week :)

Question Healing scabies and dry fasting

Hey guys I've done 4 days water and 3 days dry for scabies. It all felt like it was clearing up and scabies was dying but on 3rd day dry the itching was more intense and a little more flaking appeared. Is this just a side effect of them dying? Can they possibly reinfect my body whilst dry fasting ?

Question Breaking my dry fast with OJ

Hey guys. I did a dry fast before and broke it with lemon water but remember it severly burning my throat. This time i want to break my 7 day DF with orange juice. Has anyone done this before. Is it ok for the throat as I know everything becomes new and sensitive like a baby.

Ideally id break it with fresh coconut water or something less acidic but this is all that is growing abundantly and available to me in my region. Thanks 🙏

Question Dry fasting on period

I usually lose up to 1-2 kg a day while dry fasting, but this time, I’ve barely been losing a kg per day. Or I just maintain for a day or two. Could this be because I’m on my period this time? And I’m retaining water?

Question Dry fasting on Reta?

Does anyone have insight about dry fasting while on retatrutide? Mainly looking to do 24-72 hours at most. Will be starting Reta, and bi-weekly shorter dry fasts are currently part of my lifestyle.

Experience Dentist told me today my teeth are the cleanest he's seen from me. But the plot twist is I haven't properly brushed my teeth for months. I'm convinced fasting cleaned up my teeth.

I have been seeing my dentist for the past 3 years. I see him every 6 months. Every time I see him, he mentions how there's plaque and reminds me to brush my teeth and floss thoroughly - but I actually I brush and floss thoroughly everyday. I eat super clean too - no junk foods, only whole foods, organic vegetables, grass-fed meat, etc. And I do not eat that much - only about 1 or 2 meals a day. But plaque still built up on my teeth quickly.

Now, for the past 3 months, I've started dry fasting, keto diet, and OMAD. First I have done 3-day dry fast. Then about a month later I did a 5-day dry fast. And then I have been doing a keto diet combined with OMAD. I'm basically dry fasting for around 22 hours everyday since I'm doing OMAD.

But I have also been slacking on brushing my teeth. I just got lazy about it and there were many days when I would go to bed without brushing my teeth. Like literally I went multiple days without brushing my teeth at all, and I repeated this every week.

So today I was very surprised to hear my dentist tell me my teeth is the cleanest it's ever been in 3 years.

Then an interesting thought came to my mind. I remember I saw a photo of a prehistoric human skull and its teeth were so straight and clean. Then I started thinking about how prehistoric humans ate healthy and clean like natural whole foods (no processed and little carbohydrates), and also they would probably only eat one meal a day. And most likely they would go days without food. So they were regularly fasting at all times. I believe all of those combined (clean diet, low carbohydrates, regular fasting) contributed to their teeth being healthy and clean.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this interesting experience. Of course I'll go back to properly brushing my teeth, but I do truly believe that regular fasting has made my teeth healthier and cleaner.

Experience Refeeding 4th and 5th day update (after 9 day dry fast)

Thumbnail

Greetings! Here's what's interesting so far:

After the 3rd day of refeeding, I had a great bowel movement!

I haven't had any aches, stomach pain, diarrhea, or any other digestive issues.

My face still doesn't look red, but it's covered in dead skin and feels very dry.

Until the beginning of the 5th day of refeeding, every meal made me feel muscle fatigue, and I was sleeping a lot.

I don't know what's happening, but right now my anxiety is through the roof. I feel like a broken dog. I hope this is part of the healing process. I couldn't sleep last night because of the anxiety and the way I was feeling. It felt like I was hopeless, completely alone in this world, and that there was no light at the end of the tunnel. I haven't felt this way in about 3 or 4 years.

On the positive side, breathing through my nose is easier than it was before the dry fast. I've always had one nostril clogged, but now it seems to be opening up more easily.

What my refeed looks like:

  • A lot of water and kefir.
  • Vegetables and some complex carbohydrates.
  • Yesterday, I added some cheese.

I want to continue this gentle refeeding approach until the 10th day of refeeding. After that, I'll gradually return to eating normally.

Experience Stupidly broke my 24 dry fast at AYCE Sushi Buffet

In case anybody searches this sub, I just wanted to share my experience. For background, I water fasted for 2 days and then dry fasted the 3rd day. My longest wet fast was 18 days, but I hadn’t done dry fasting before. This was tough.

I was planning to dry fast for 3+ days, but went on an unplanned road trip with my significant other and he asked me (in my vulnerable state) if I wanted to go to an AYCE Sushi Buffet since we were in the area. My willpower was weak and I said, sure why not? I planned to mostly eat protein or low carb stuff.

Of course, being there made me so excited but I mostly stuck to my plan. Here’s all the dishes I ate: grilled steak, grilled shrimp, cucumber salad, kimchi, 16 pieces of sashimi, tofu, avocado salad, poké salad, 6 sweet potatoes fries, a small bite of a mango tempura sushi roll (tried to avoid most of the rice) and a bite of snow crab from my partner’s hand roll. The “bad stuff” I ended up having was a small bowl (cup) of beef udon soup, some mango juice/tea drink and coconut panna cotta.

I was extremely full! But it was so delicious and I didn’t experience any issues even after 3 days of fasting. The only tipping point is my partner wanted to get a milkshake on our way home and I ended up drinking about 8oz. Not good, I know. 😅

My body still seemed fine until later that night. I became extremely sleepy/tired. My whole body ached so much, as if I had worked out and pushed my body the day before! I couldn’t really lie down and get comfortable. The only thing that helped me feel better was drinking a small cup of water and sleep it off.

Thankfully, the next morning I felt fine and actually really good! Stable energy from the sustenance. I weighed myself and I gained 1.4lbs the next day. I was surprised. I thought I’d gain way more!

I started another dry fast the very next day (today). I’ll edit this post and update my weight in the morning.

So, here are my stats:
(5’2, Female - trying to lose 15lbs)

2 Days Water Fasting: Lost 2.6lbs
1 Day Dry Fasting: Lost 2.8lbs (5.4lbs total)
After breaking fast at the buffet: Gained 1.4lbs
After restarting dry fast next day: Lost 2lbs

Total after water fasting 2 days and dry fasting 2 days with a refeed in between: Lost 6lbs

UPDATE: I feel fine after dry fasting another day. Lost 2lbs, so a little more than what I gained. My body is still experiencing a low key soreness (like DOMS), but nothing I can’t handle. Since I’m doing quite a bit of work today, I am transitioning back to a wet fast for sanity. Will probably do this for another 2 days or so. Clothes already feel a bit looser on me, so I feel good!

Experience I've stopped my dry fast at the beginning of the 10th day.

In the beginning of the 9th day, when I woke up, I felt nauseous. I had a lot of nightmares during the night, but after a few hours, the headache was gone and I felt fine.

The main problem was that at the beginning of the 10th day, I started to feel very nauseous again, so I decided to end the fast.

What's interesting is that after just a few sips of water, I started to feel much better. The nausea quickly subsided.

Now it's been 10 hours since I started my refeed, and I haven't had diarrhea or any other problems.

I drank one cup of water every 30 minutes for a few hours, and after that, I drank some kefir.

The next challenge is to make the refeed last as long as possible (20 days would be ideal!).

Question Dry fasting after antibiotics

I recently had to take a 6 week course of antibiotics for Lyme. How long before I can start preparing and then attempt dry fasting? I have previously only done water fasts (3 - 5 days). I know I should probably wait at least a month for the antibiotics to be out of my system and then slowly detox? What do you think?

Question Advice for 10 day dry fast?

I'm not new to fasting, and have dropped weight extremely quickly in the past but never by dry fast. The most i've lost was 226lbs-133lbs in maybe 6-8 months. Because of this my body has been pretty stubborn about dropping weight, where, now, even water fasting doesn't give me the results it has for others. Im resorting to a 10 day dry fast to quickly drop some weight before a vacation I have coming up (i don't expect to immediately eat everything in sight once im on vacation and will probably water fast during a portion of it as to not get sick after my dry fast). I'm sitting at roughly 180 lbs as a 5'8 woman. Can anyone share their experience with 10 day dry fasts like this? And, if your body is like mine and is super stubborn with losing weight, did your results differ because of that? Also, if you have a similar weight and height to me, how much did you lose, and how noticeable of a difference was there physically? After reading some posts, 20-30 lbs seems achievable, which would be my goal! Any and all feedback appreciated

Experience Brain Fog

I am recently doing dry fasting for 19 hours a day. I used to do dry fasting during Ramadan for 15-16 hours a day. My intent is reducing my fatty liver disease and recovery of my hair.
Recently this year, I complained from brain fog. I noticed the brain fog reduced when i did fasting.
Today it was the first day to do 25 hours dry fasting. I felt dizzy and had headache mid day. My goal is to reduce brain fog, increase mental clarity, reduce the fatty liver symptoms.

Experience DAY 6- My First Dry Fast- Update

Hello people! Took it day by day slowly & got past my first Acidosis crisis at the end of day 4 & since then been feeling a lot better! Aches & pains from day 1 onwards starting disappearing after day 4 onwards!

This actually works! I had a motorbike accident & both my legs were fractured, feels like both are regenerating slowly!! WOW!!

Currently feel very light & sensitive.. not doing much exercise & movement really. Tomorrow will be day 7 which I was aiming to break during the fast but now not sure sure might go towards day 8 & day 9 & see how Im feeling 💫

The journey really does a lot more than fixing you physically but mentally & spiritually it's a journey that expands your consciousness.. only dry fasters would ever understand!! The pain & old memories that turn up, the sleepless nights, the ample of time to think 💭 this journey really is extraordinary..

Happy Healing people 💙

Question Amplified autophogy based on body type?

I drop weight easily. I've always been slim, never more than 160lbs in life. My body type would probably be classified as ectomorphic. I get into the 150s when I eat around the clock for whatever reason, but I'm not a foodie like that and even then I still don't pack on much weight.

Like dry fasting is more potent than water fasting, do you think certain body types are more potent during the processes of autophagy and the like when dry fasting?

The most I've dry fasted is 4 days. I dropped about 8-10 lbs.

What do you think about this?

Any particular experiences or observations that you can mention, studies you've found that would qualify this or otherwise?

What's interesting:

I slept well. I got 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, and I even had dreams.

After waking up in the morning, I had a good bowel movement!

But as Day 8 become closer, I began experiencing a mild forehead headache, redness on my hands, pimples around my neck, an itchy scalp, increased tinnitus, and more pimples on my chest.

So I think the second acidic crisis is starting! Here we go!!
