🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 They bullied a girl with pizza
Alright so I just got the most insane order I've had so far. Its my first cash delivery, so I was already stressed about not having change and how it worked etc. But then I noticed a weird thing on the note, which made me take a screenshot. It said to bang until they answered the door, which was odd, I would understand if they were an elderly person or someone hard of hearing, but it was also at an apartment complex so like why would you want your neighbors hearing that??
Anyways I get there and there's a weird gate to get in, but their neighbors are outside with kids in a pool. The neighbors look confused and angry, and the kids looked unhappy to see a pizza delivery person, which was immediately odd. Before I could say anything they asked if I was there for apartment B, and when I said yes they both looked pissed. Apparently, the girl in apartment B had just gotten out of the hospital and she had strict dietary restrictions, and someone was trying to prank her by sending pizzas. They said I was the 4th driver in the last 30 minutes, she was not at all hard of hearing, and this had been happening for the past 2 days. The neighbors theory was that it was her coworkers mad that she wasn't at work.
Anyways, crazy stuff. I had to call doordash and have them cancel the order, they then still charged me the money so I had to call again, but on the bright side the pizza shop let us keep the pizza!

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Sweet, sweet justice for delivery drivers
There is a place near me where there's a lot of restaurants within a small town-esque center where there's a lot of restaurants, stores , etc and there are a bunch of parking spots specifically for pickup and drop-off deliveries, and almost 100% of them are taken up by people who are just parking there to go to the restaurants. And there was only one spot available, the one I got, and I was watching them write tickets to every single person in the line that I parked in, and as I was leaving, I thanked them.
They said some people stay there for hours or even all day. The main parking area for customers is sometimes about a half a mile away from some restaurants and yeah...can't be bothered to walk.
This wasn't even the weekend. During the weekend, there is live music and it's nearly impossible to pick up orders from the area. Really glad to see this happen with my own two eyes!

Complaints They're just admitting now. We need to act. They're using technology to flip the contractor model on it's head
It's probably been 2-3 months now, when on a random Monday, there was a sudden change in what the algorithm started to send me..
Im a long-time gig worker and contractor for multiple companies, at least 5, so I understand seasons, economic conditions, saturation, and the like.
This, however, flipped like a light switch, and it hit HARD and never went back to normal. My offers and compensation tanked 2 fold.
They absolutely made a back-end change..
Fast forward to today, and after speaking to many dozens of agents, one said it in PLAIN English..." Either you will accept the unprofitable OR you will take nothing. "
This is not how this model is supposed to work.
They have essentially found a way to use technology to force contractors to do things at a loss to us while shifting all of the liability of the vehicle (payments, insurance, wear & tear, maintenance, tax) to the driver
If I said what im feeling right now, this post would be taken down, so I'll just politely ask, how do we respond to these devastating evil tactics?! What does it mean for workers as a whole that W2 postions are following in the same footsteps?!
These companies have always played games, but one by one, they're kicking it all the way to 100, and by the logic im seeing this play they're making is a winner because there are millions of us and we all need to sell labor TO LIVE!
WE NEED RESPOND. THERE HAS TO BE BLOW BACK
PS: In NC Piedmont Triad area for those who are interested in coordinated AG complaint filings

💰Earnings 🤑 Got 30 pizzas
We DoorDash around Alexandria Louisiana, got a 6.75+ add on for little ceasers, add to route, get there, and double take at the 30 items, assuming it’s sauce, it’s not, all pizzas. Call the customer to double check, and they said “yeah 30 pizzas, that’s correct. To Saint something school” so I get to the drop off (best western) call the customer cause there are no busses, and it’s not a school, she’s in the middle of describing the place and stops mid sentence. “Wait are yall in Alexandria?” I said “yeah?” And she says “well sh*t, I’m in Baton Rouge (124 miles away) I gotta get some pizzas” and hangs up. So I call support, restaurant wouldn’t take them back so now we have 20~ pizzas after giving a few out haha (still got paid $16~)

❔Driver Question 🤔 Seriously?
So, I'm in the desert, its over 100°f here and I keep an ice filled Styrofoam cooler in the car for orders just like this, but restaurants commonly keep orders sitting out to melt before I pick up. What exactly is it that the customer would like me to do?

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Scam
I just had an order to an apartment complex and when I arrived, there was no unit number. I called the customer and they did not answer. Then I got a call with a "DoorDash" caller ID, they told me the order (and the next order grouped with it) was generated by doordash to verify my identity because of a complaint of a drunk female delivering on my behalf and that the order does not need to be delivered. They asked for my phone number and crimson card balance which I thought was weird, so I asked if I could call dasher support to verify who they are. They gave me some story and said I needed to go to some location so I said, if they really are dasher support, clear both orders from my account and I will continue. They hung up, I called dasher support and then you knew nothing about it.
Posting for others' awareness because parts of it were convincing and psychologically I felt myself wanting to defend the complaint.

❔Driver Question 🤔 The New DD
I can only speak to my neck of the woods, but for years, I got lots of offers NOT being in a hotspot.
Now? Forget it. If I’m not parked in bright red, I can look forward to 3 offers that would equal me earning 15.75 for 89 miles of driving.

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Customer orders AC unit, but is not home to receive it at his apartment.
So customer decides to order an 80 lb AC unit from Best buy, and I call the customer because I wanted to arrange how to get in because it was a secured apartment building. Call the customer twice, text him twice, no response, then I called a third time and he answered, and said he wasn't going to be home for at least another 10 minutes. I didn't respond very kindly, other than to say that's just great, and hung up.
So, I made it clear to him that his air conditioning unit was going to be outside the building And I couldn't waste the amount of time that he wasn't going to be home for, and he understood, and then I added a text in there about if you're going to order an item, make sure that somebody's available.
He countered with the fact that I beat the ETA by 20 minutes, and that was his complaint, that I was early. I countered right back and said, if you're going to order something of this size, you shouldn't order it until somebody's available to receive it., He said...okay, I'll keep that in mind.

🥺Low Offer Post😫 doordash is lowering base pay on on auto parts stores.
i’ve been dashing full time for a year. i always get offers from auto places delivering radiators and brake parts. it’s usually $20 for 17 miles etc depending on the miles. but now every offer is $15 for 17 miles. that’s just an example but it’s clear they are doing this on purpose to save them extra money. i have a bunch of pictures of before and after this change they implemented about 2 weeks ago. anyway i can sue?

🎉Achievement👍 A Sincere Message to My Fellow Dashers
After 4 years doing DoorDash, I’m proud to say that this was my last week on this app.
I was hired as a banker recently and I can now provide for myself without driving anymore. I grinded for a long time on this app. Manipulated myself to Platinum and did anything to keep it.
I don’t know if it was worth it but I made money and did what I had to do. I feel good knowing that I worked hard but I can’t help but feel like it was a waste of time.
Not because I got hired by a new job, but because I realized I didn’t gain anything out of it besides the money.
It was soulless and depressing.
I lead a life with kindness and a light hearted nature but this gig wore me down. The anti social nature of it is unnerving. Between customers and restaurant workers, people don’t even acknowledge you half the time.
I say all this to say I empathize with those who are in the struggle playing this game. I implore my fellow dashers (especially full time) to explore other opportunities and not let this gig get the best of you.

🤬Rant about DD🥵 Uhm??
Can anyone tell me why DoorDash calls me 4-5 times a day asking when I’m going to start door dashing??
I usually dash on the weekends, but I’ve missed a couple of weekends with family trips/I have a surgery coming up on Monday… Ive told them each time and have eventually just given up on answering.
They call, text, email.. the whole thing .. MULTIPLE times a day and they call from a local number.
Has anyone else had this experience with them??

🤬App Issues 😩 Not receiving orders?
Anyone else not receiving orders? My stats are fine but there definitely something wrong with my phone receiving offers since Tuesday afternoon. I’m with t-mobile and I have an iPhone. Contacted support when through all the steps. Wtf? This is one of my busiest days. Anyone else having this problem or is it just me?
