This is a style test for r/DeepCityComics, one of the narrative branches of Deep City Project.

Unlike the expedition reports published elsewhere, this timeline follows Pit Matson during the final years before the collapse of Deep City (~2360 CE / ~259 p.A.).

Each page is presented as a recovered system log rather than a traditional comic page. The dialogue appears as machine-transcribed speech, while the metadata identifies the source, location, communication channel, and acoustic profile of each recovered fragment.

In this scene, Pit Matson encounters The Redhead for the first time.

“How did you get into the party?”

“You can’t throw out someone you never let in. Do we know each other?”

The story is built almost entirely through these archived fragments, allowing readers to reconstruct the fall of Deep City piece by piece instead of following a conventional linear narrative.

After getting banned a few times for not explaining what people were looking at 😅, this time I’ll add some context.

These two panels belong to Deep City, a long-term transmedia sci-fi project that I’m building in Blender. They are visual tests for the timeline covering the collapse of Deep City (~2361–2365 CE).

The interesting part isn’t the dialogue itself—it’s the two simultaneous perception layers.

This is the objective reality.

The scene is rendered in Blender exactly as it physically exists inside Deep City: two robots meeting in a lobby.

This is the same frame, from the exact same camera, with the same composition, poses, scale and dialogue.

Nothing in the physical world changes.

Only Pit Matson’s internal perception changes.

Pit is a robot whose cognitive system has been programmed to believe he is a 1940s noir detective. The Redhead is another robot who perceives herself as a classic film noir femme fatale.

So the second image isn’t a redesign or an alternate universe—it’s literally how Pit experiences the first image.

For these tests:

Level 1 (Objective Sensor Feed) is modeled and rendered entirely in Blender.

Level 2 (Pit Matson Cognitive Filter) is generated with AI while preserving the original framing and narrative continuity.

I’m still refining this perception system, but it’s becoming one of the core storytelling devices of Deep City.

I’d love to hear whether the relationship between both layers reads clearly without knowing the project beforehand.

Main Premise

Deep City is a megastructure beneath New York City, designed as a self-sustaining robotic ecosystem following the fall of humanity. Its state is monitored by Ilghal, a system supposed to provide accurate structural and operational data over time.

The Experiment

Deep City is a robotic society created by Morris Sic, who is also a robot. Morris Sic conducts an experiment: he programs two robots to become human:

• Pit Matson: his programmed identity > a film noir detective based on Robert Mitchum, as he appears in the film *The Night of the Hunter*, in the role of Harry Powell.

• The Redhead: her programmed identity > a prostitute from Platform 42. Her physical appearance is that of Willa Harper's character in the film *The Night of the Hunter*.

IMAGE CONTEXT:

Level 1 — Physical Reality

The Blender image represents objective reality.

The second image is not an artistic reinterpretation.

It is literally:

The visual output generated by Pit Matson's cognitive program.

According to the canon:

Pit is a robot.

His programming compels him to believe he is human.

His personality is based on that of a film noir detective.

Its narrative structure is reminiscent of Harry Powell/Robert Mitchum.

The system continually reconstructs reality to fit that identity.
