Christopher Nolan avoided CGI and used 7ft stuntmen to portray Laestrygonians in The Odyssey. The giant leader, King Antiphates, is portrayed by actor Josh Stewart, while Matt Damon’s stunt double is Devyn Dalton, who is just under 5ft.

I found that scene so disappointing.
The just walk into a Forrest for 10 seconds, immediately get attacked by those guys and just dip. And that’s the scene

There was 0 tension emotionally for me

My thing is, if the Laestrygonians are giants who have figured out plate armor before anyone else, why don't they dominate the entire region?

Well they still have to follow a poorly written script, you can't expect them to break through it as NPC's.

In the original book, this is the main death scene in which 90% of the fleet is wiped out. Only a handful are picked off by the cyclops, scylla, etc. I don't think the movie conveys the gravity of it at all.
