Road Guy on a kid's dirt bike flies by me on WRC trail

Post image

I am cruising along WRC trail southbound and a grown man on a kid's dirt bike blows by me at 22 mph (per my Garmin radar). This tiny bike was heavily customized with super wide mountain handlebars, pedal clips, 17" tires (kind of guessing here but they were small) and a 3 ft long seat post (I may be exaggerating but he was a pretty big guy).

I was able to catch a quick picture but as I said, he was going really fast so it was a little blurry.

It doesn't really matter what kind of equipment you ride, but performance all comes down to how strong of a rider you are.

If this was you, I have a lot of questions and, I am in complete awe of your abilities.

Road Why do you not ride with a group?

I see a lot of cyclists in Dallas but ever since COVID, very few show up for group rides that don’t end at a drinking establishment.

Road Looking for 30+ mile ride outside of the city

Hi! I am looking for a country road ride - strictly road cycling - in the Forney, Rockwall adjacent area where I can just ride with minimal car traffic. I usually ride White Rock/SoPac, etc, but looking to get out of the city and let loose! Would be grateful for any suggestions!

I like riding Italy, but trying to find something a little closer to Dallas.

Road Looking for 30-40 mile ride in Dallas area - and how much of The Loop can I do?

I've done Lone Star Trail to Skyline Trail and enjoyed it, and am looking for some other 25-40 mile rides in Dallas/North Dallas. It looks like "The Loop" will be awesome when it's completed, but honestly I can't tell how much is rideable right now or what happens when you hit the parts under construction, or how long it is at present. (it looks like you could shorten it by skipping the bottom and there's a cutover)? Is it doable? Recommended places to park/start? Are there better rides in Dallas (I'm looking for paved/well maintained trails, please, I don't want to deal with Suburbans or fighting gravel/mud the whole time)

The other obvious one is Downtown to White Rock Lake, but a lot of threads in here talk about how full of peds/pets/kids Katy Trail is, so I'm thinking I should avoid that one. But maybe I'm wrong - change my mind!

What would people recommend? I've done the stuff West of Dallas and Lewisville->Denton, but Dallas outside of the Skyline Trail is new to me. And thank you!

Discussion I lost this bike in downtown Fort Worth this weekend

I took the train down for a soccer game and ended up meeting up with friends and drinking. I locked it up by the train station but was a little drunk and think I probably didn’t lock it up properly. Please let me know if you see it.

It’s a specialized AWOL painted orange by the previous owner.

Thank you

Question DFW Bikejoring??

Thumbnail

Has anyone tried bikejoring? This boy needs to run and I love to ride so urban sledding is our solution. We are working on directional commands and I’m getting him used to his running harness while it’s too hot. I have my bike, antenna, bungee leash and his harness ready to go. I would love to know if there is a community locally that I’m missing in searches.

Also any trail suggestions that are not congested and are conducive to learning a new sport would be greatly appreciated.

Shout-out to Trinity Metro and DART for the bike racks on the trains. I definitely didn't feel like biking back home once I made it to Ft Worth. 😂 This heat and wind sucked.

The only request is have for the trains is a bar-car 🍺

Needless to say, the levees are dry as a bone. Go ride!

Hey eveyone! Long shot but thought I'de try here. My family and I moved to Texas this week. We stopped off in Ft. Worth to catch some Zzzz after 13hrs on the road. 4799 S 820 loop (hampton inn south city view)

As I was loading in luggage and getting my wife and kiddo situated on our room my MTB was stolen off my rack in the parking lot.

Bike is a black 2017 Knolly Warden 27.5 med (Mr. T)

Custom metalic gold decals

Handmade Mr. T sillo decal on frame

Gold chain

Chromag dagga pedals

Cane creek dual chamber shock

Chromag carbon bars

Brown/gold chromag grips and seat

Cane creek stem

I9 hubs

Xo groupset

One up v2 dropper

Gold cable ends

Etc.

If you see it around, please let me know.

Also I'm 90% sure the guy who stole it drives an early 00's white suburban.

Keep the rubber side down! ✌️

Question Bike shops?

Hey everyone, I’m in town for the week and wanted to check out yalls bike shops. Any particular places I should check out while in town? I’m more in the Ft. Worth area as opposed to Dallas but I’ll travel for the best.

Thanks!

Road Bike friends

Ay! Any cool people here enjoy biking around WRL? Been living in Dallas for a year and half now and haven’t managed to make many sporty friends. Im on a vintage road bike (Lotus challenger) w flat pedals so it’s not really possible to keep up with you fast dudes on modern bikes (i wish). However im a strong cyclist that enjoys faster pace and chiller rides. My rides are usually 20 miles + but love a 50 miler with good company. I’m a chick and I’m 27.. please don’t be creepy, be cool!

Say hi!

Road Has anyone been on the White Rock Creek trail this week (6.22.26)?

Part of it was under water last weekend. I rode it yesterday from LBJ to 75 without issue but did not go further. Has all the mud been cleared from all the way to White Rock Lake?

Question Renting a gravel bike locally?

I've been riding a flat bar hybrid primarily on the paved trails in town for the last several years, but I'm getting interested in potentially adding a gravel bike to get off the pavement and on gravel/into nature.

Is there any place locally you'd recommend that rents gravel bikes by the day? I don't have any friends with one who could let me try theirs out, and it's been a long time since I've ridden a drop bar bike.

(also don't feel like a short test ride in the bike shop parking lot would be sufficient)

Question 34 y/o female wanting to get into road cycling!

Hi! One of my goals for this year is getting into road biking, as it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time. However, I’m kind of overwhelmed by it all and was wondering if you had any suggestions for a newbie. Would you recommend ordering a beginner bike online or going to a local bike shop? I live in the East Dallas area, not far from White Rock Lake. Also, what gear should I be looking into as a beginner? What is an absolute must, and what should I hold off on purchasing right off the bat? Thanks for any/all advice! (-:

Question Best places for a gravel ride on a MTB with a 5 yo

My son is 5 years old but rides far better than you would imagine. He has a couple bikes but the one he’s trying to get more comfortable on is his hardtail. He has been through River Legacy MTB trails with me calling out instruction and did really good but I want to ride something a little easier with him so he can work on leg strength and shifting. His favorite part is riding on dirt in general. Any recommendations for next weekend would be appreciated.

Road Dallas cyclist looking to host a ride with a visiting rider during the World Cup

local here, fairly serious about riding — 18–20 on the flats, long gravel days, training toward some ultra-distance stuff. if you're in town for the Cup and you actually ride, I'd love to take someone out for a proper ride rather than a tourist cruise.

I've got a loaner bike that fits riders around 5'7"–5'11" (52cm) and a spare helmet, so just bring your legs. no cost. routes range from a fast White Rock loop to a loop

drop a comment or DM with where you're from and your usual riding — pace, distance, road vs gravel — and we'll line something up.

here's a route i often do: https://ridewithgps.com/trips/385911016

Sorry if this headline is no longer applicable. It has been a while since I have been around the lake. Is the path still blocked and if so, is there a detour?

There were around 7 riders this morning who were on their way to Merit Coffee downtown. You helped temporarily repair a sidewall blowout along the trail. Just wanted to say thank you again for your use of a portable pump and for helping to get me back on two wheels again. I hope the baristas prepared the best coffee you ever had!
