Last November my headset broke. No big deal since the Steam Frame was just around the corner. In the meantime, I started playing a few flat-screen games in the same genre, such as Escape from Tarkov, Arc Raiders, and Marathon. That made me realize there are a few things I'd like to see in Contractors Showdown. Of course you may not agree, but we can have a discussion about it.
1. Nerf the healing system.
I believe the healing system is too strong right now. I found it was almost impossible to push a player you're fighting over longer distances because of how quickly you can get your health back. These fights tend to turn into a resource-exhaustion situation, or end when you get a lucky headshot.
What I propose: Tarkov, Arc Raiders, and Marathon have it right. Healing items need some time to be applied and regenerate health over time. In CS, I think small syringes could have one-time use for X amount of HP, while larger ones could have more shots and heal more damage.
2. More predictable recoil.
I think we all like to fire full auto, but also don't want to get shot from a laser beam. I'm not talking about recoil patterns here, but a bit more predictability. One thing that threw me off was that the weapon recoil can go downward. I think Tarkov nailed it in the recoil department, as (if I'm not mistaken) firing full auto only goes upward and increases the spread.
3. Armor that works like a shield.
I thought this is what they were going for when they introduced the shield repair tool. So basically, shields absorb some damage but break a lot quicker, and they can be "recharged" with the repair tool. When a shot penetrates the armor, the player receives "full damage" like it does right now, and the armor still gets damaged.
4. Revives.
I used to be in the other camp about this, but after playing Arc Raiders and Marathon, I believe this makes the game a better experience. Nothing is more boring than waiting for your teammates to finish their raid after you got killed. Reviving could be done with a tool you have to carry, and you get revived with all your legs and arms broken.
5. Carrying a body should make you walk slower.
Minor nitpick here, but I don't think you should be able to walk at full speed when carrying a body.
Alright, that's it, let me know what you think!
