Hi all! I am scouring the internet for Chinese alternative music from the mid-'90s until about 2010. I can't read or speak Chinese though! So I'm wondering if I can get some help.

I know that mid-'90s to 2010 ish is a somewhat arbitrary window of time -- but I feel like there are similarities in songwriting and production. I'm really only looking for things in this time bracket.

And my definition of alternative is debatable -- to be more specific looking for industrial, downtempo, breakbeat, trip-hop. Basically, moody and heavy and sort of futuristic, rather than indie dream pop etc (that's for another playlist I am working on) or punk/doomer/rock (yet another playlist).

And by Chinese -- I'm fine with any language from China (Mandarin, Cantonese, Tibetan, etc) and could include immigrants into China and from China as well. I'd prefer the songs not to be in English but have already made one exception.

So far I have songs by Zhang Yadong, 张浅潜, 左小祖咒, Wong Faye, Hopscotch, Supermarket, 林強, 与非门, 盘古, 龍寬九段, Sun Dawei, and a few others, just to give readers an idea of the feeling of the playlist. I don't have any Dou Wei songs that fit the mood but have tried?

I would definitely consider songs that are out of character for a band/musician but fit the mood, or anything by unknown artists. I dug through Modern Sky records and other compilations with some success? I tried joining NetEase but most music there is blocked and I'm illiterate anyways.

Hi all, does anyone here familiar with Taiwan's pop music in the era of 2002 to 2008?

I remember I saw a music video that aired on my local TV(Malaysia), it's might be around 2006(?). I'm not sure if the song is a bit older.

The music video is inside seems to be a night club, the singer is female and she's wearing outfit in red, and her pose and dance is quite suggestive.

I did tried to search some of Taiwan singers that I knew, for example A-Mei, Elva Hsiao, Jolin Tsai and Vivian Hsu, but I still have no luck finding it. Thanks.

I originally thought the song I'm thinking of was created by Lexie Liu unless it is but from what I can remember this song is from a female singer. Regarding the music video it was released within the 2020s maybe within 2023? In the song she has a black bob(?) and she's wearing black angel wings. Some of the environments she's in take place in a classroom and I think on the rooftop of the school as well. I think the genre could've had some industrial influence otherwise I would classify it as a mainly a pop derivative sound.

Hello, could somebody please help me identify this chinese song playing in the background? I tried shazamming it, but to aveil. It plays from around 1:40-3:13 in the video. I would really appreciate it as I find it very catchy.
