I Cooked Braised Pork Belly Rice 🐷🍚 what I love about this dish is the meat that is melt-in-the-mouth, juicy and tender mushrooms, and the eggs that has been infused with the flavourful sauce 💗🤤 My hubby used to never ever eat pork belly and quail eggs but this dish changed him! 🥰

Perhaps an attempt 🤔 For the base of seasonings and sauce I used: oyster sauce, black rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, doubanjiag, douchi, sugar, and Sichuan pepper. I only used onion and bell pepper for vegetables. Finally, I added peanuts.

I Ate Garlic lamb so spicy it stole my voice for a day — worth it. [Shanghai]

Found Tang Zhi (唐炙) on Yan'an West Rd, Changning. Tiny spot, looks easy to miss, but the kitchen is loud in the best way.

Got the 蒜泼羊肉 — paper-thin lamb, buried under a mountain of chili powder, raw garlic and scallions, with sizzling oil poured over it at the table. The lamb underneath was almost custard-soft.

Fair warning: this dish doesn't negotiate. My throat was gone by the next morning. Didn't stop me from scraping up every drop with the flatbread they bring on the side (烧饼, mandatory).

📍 1394 Yan'an West Road, Building 1, Room 1, Changning
💰 roughly ¥100-150 per person
🕐 go before 7 on weekends or wait

Would absolutely go back

Walked past Tang Zhi on Yan'an West Rd a dozen times before actually going in. Small place, maybe ten tables, kitchen audible from the street.

The 蒜泼羊肉 is the move. Thin lamb slices under a pile of chili, raw garlic and scallions, with smoking oil poured on at the table. Lamb stays almost custardy underneath all that heat.

If anyone knows what else is good there, I'm all ears.

Questions Best Sichuan Paocai to buy in the US?

Looking for pre-packaged brands only as I don't have the setup to ferment my own. Open to try other types of Chinese pickles as well.

Questions Does anyone know what this dish is? I had it in Chengdu last year and it was genuinely one of the best things I have ever eaten.

Questions AIO : Pork Chow Fun made with ham

I ordred Pork Chow Fun from a local American-Chinese restaurant. This is one of my favorite dishes but first time I have gotten it here. The pork was definitely slices of ham. I am definitely not used to this, and it ruined the dish for me. Is this a legitimate way of making pork chow fun ?

Questions Jasmine Tea Candies or Snacks

I have a friend who loves Jasmine Tea and I'm not even going to try buying them tea leaves/bags. I was wondering if there were any Jasmine tea flavored candies or snacks or desserts you recommend.
