Finished Cave Story a week or two ago and wanted to make some fan art.
Thought i'd share it here ^^

Hi new player here. This might be the dumbest question but I legit can't find an easy answer on this so I'm asking anyway. I've started the game in the original story mode and I've realized outside the starting room all the save points are stuck in the air and no matter what I do I can't interact with them. I have no idea if this is normal and I've already died twice in the bunny village messing around so the backtracking feels like it'll be a problem later.

I've tried looking this up online but every source I found either assumes I'm playing hard mode or trying to save before a boss or challenge. And I don't wanna spoil any major part of the game just to figure out why I can't save.

Can someone just tell me why I can't interact with the saves without major spoilers? Is this just part of playing normal mode? Is it permanent or will I unlock something later to use em? Should I maybe switch to easy mode? Asking just to figure out how to go about playing.

I took the booster assuming it was mandatory, saved beat the core, only to have Curly die, I knew she could die if you weren't careful, but how was I supposed to intuit that taking that would kill her and booster? I think I'm gonna give it a break and start a new save whenever I come back.

I've made a resource pack that adds most Cave Story tilesets, some items, and other bits and pieces to minecraft and a recreation of Cave Story areas. This pack is for JAVA 26.2.

After years of knowing about Cave Story and having the game on steam but never actually playing it i finally did and managed to actually beat it with the best ending. Yes i did use guides because F@#& that last part!!

This was my first time porting something to the WiiWare v258 build that went beyond just replacing assets; I think this is about 1:1 to the original JN in terms of gameplay, so I'm pretty happy with how it came out

If you want to play this port for yourself (or just wanna see how I did it), I made a Google Doc showing all of the Assembly edits I made

Now I've beaten it 6 times and gotten to the end of a randomiser (where I ended up softlocking myself GRRAAHHH)

I'm genuinely upset with myself for not playing this game sooner it's every bit as good as I've heard

ok so when I was in college. I was taking game making classes before it really took off. My teacher was explaining about how it can be hard and fun as long as you have. The Game plan. forgive me its been a really long time and i forgot what he called it. basically its the games manual. Not the little good you use to get with the game. Like the thing that tells you everything in the game. Kinda like when super Mario bros ends. it shows all the characters there names and colors. easy way to make multiple types of badguys. anyway back to the point.

The game that my teacher told us to download was Dokutsu which is cavestory. I need help how to i put a controller connection on to the files. It still has keyboard controls just wanted to put my xbox controller on to play like that. any help would be apperciated.

this is my first playthrough, i beat the core boss and curly is just lying there unable to be interacted with, what do i do? i don’t want to leave her there to die in the water :(

I got CS+ on Steam recently and wanted to use my controller (Power A NSGPCWDB) with it and for some reason the controls are completely fucked up. The game seeming reads the controllers face buttons the same as the D-pad (reading A as down, X as up, Y as left and B as right), thus restricting me to using the shoulder buttons for gameplay. This is the first time I've had an issue with this controller on any piece of software. Does anyone know how to fix this?
