I'll be coming to Cardiff for my postgraduate studies, and my school is the School of Mathematics. I'm looking for a room with a private en-suite bathroom, preferably somewhere close to my school.

I'm hoping for accommodation that's not too noisy or party-heavy, but also not so quiet that it feels isolated. I go to the gym regularly, so I don't mind a 15–20 minute walk to campus if it means getting a better overall experience.

If you've lived in any of these accommodations, especially as a postgraduate, or think one would suit what I'm looking for, I'd really appreciate your advice and recommendations. Thanks!

2. Which is the best bank to make , one which doesnt require a lot paperwork or hassle
3. Overall social life, how is the social life? I've heard things are quite cheap compared to eg London but can someone tell me who is it?

yesterday a post was created on another Reddit community relating to a news article from The Tab about a student who was allegedly assaulted b/c she had a palestinian flag

the ceremony took place on wednesday 15/07/2026 and it was the ceremony at 12:30

she crosses the stage at 1 hour 34 into the stream

she then tried to create a a scene in front of the camera at the end while all the graduates were leaving

so the security staff took the flag off her

shes now crying and playing the victim online because she got banned from the graduation reception because of her actions

the rules were clear about not taking flags to graduation

she is being also now harassing the staff at the venue who took the flag off her Accusing them of assaulting her and posting their names Because she can’t take accountability for her own actions

i posted her name on the original thread last night and my comment has since been removed

funny how she can dish out the abuse online and incite abuse to other people but when the shoe is on the other foot she can’t cope

Its me again! Yay, sorry for the multiple posts but without being present there and without a guarantor, renting is very difficult without trust and multiple bad reviews of agencies. The title pretty much says it, I know there are cheaper and better private accomms, and I have ad my eyes on Fitzalan, Eclipse, Arofan House, Howard Gardens etc as my budget goes up to 900-950pcm. However, couldn't find any suitable agencies or direct property contacts to let from, also without guarantor they all want full deposit at once, which is a ton of money given that I am on a stipend which I will receive every three months. I am looking at guarantor services for this so let me know if you have good experiences with any of them. But anyways, main question is, Clodien House reviews please! I am not yet told if it is ensuite or studio, they will send the contract in three days. I know its a bit far from the city center and my CompSci building, but I guess I'll lose some weight.

in first year i didn’t join a society and kinda thought id give it a go for second year so i can go to the socials and not feel like im missing out. my friends in volleyball society and the socials look so fun but im not good at volleyball lol. i want to join one but im not that sure what im interested in i just want to meet a lot of different people from different backgrounds and have fun that way, not really too fussed on the actual niche part of joining the club just one that’s popular and easy going lol

Hello everyone, I have recently applied for and been accepted into two postgraduate courses at cardiff uni, one with a placement year and one without. From looking online at student finance england, it says that masters loans are spread equally across the years of a postgraduate course if it is more than one year, but I can't find any information online about whether that also applies for placement years. I feel like it would be pretty dumb if it did, given the tuition fees are 12k first year and 2k the second, plus i would be working and earning money in that placement year, but I could not afford to do the placement year course if it did. Spoke to SLE about it, they told me to contact the uni, and I havent been able to get through to the uni any time i've rang. Any help would be appreciated

I will be starting a PhD at Cardiff University in October and I am currently trying to decide where to live during my first year.

I prefer having private space, so I am mainly considering either a studio or a one-bedroom flat. Among the university accommodation options, Roy Jenkins Hall seems to offer the best balance of price and space. However, I understand that it does not have laundry facilities on-site and that residents may need to use the laundry at Cartwright Court. How inconvenient is this in practice, particularly during winter?
The other university accommodation options I have found seem quite expensive. Because of that, I am also considering renting privately in Cathays, Roath, or somewhere between Cathays Park and the Heath Park/CUBRIC area.

• Reliable heating and no damp or mould
• Nearby laundry or an in-flat washing machine
• Enough space for a desk and bicycle
• Reasonable rent rather than luxury student accommodation

I would especially appreciate advice from postgraduate students or international students who arrived without a UK guarantor. Are there particular streets, buildings, landlords, or letting agencies that I should consider or avoid?

Hello everyone, I have been awarded an EPSRC Studentship and will be paid roughly 1817 pounds a month for my PhD Degree. The funding is for 3 years and will require me to make savings enough to have rent and food for 1 more year afterwards (6 months writeup and approx 6 months to get a decent job, though realistically may require more?). The room offered can be viewed (here). I love the placement as its close to the department building as well as the city center. However almost 800 pounds a month for ... well not really that spacious at all as a room. Some private homes at Cardiff Student Lettings seems to have studio apartments with 2 bedrooms for 890~ or so. I was wondering if it is worth it, as an international student it is always difficult to fix a room, pay for it and hope that I will be getting what I had seen in the picture. Are both uni equal in terms of sports and support student athletes. As I am deciding which one to choose, the course I wanna pursue is cs and how's the student life in both the unis.

How’s the nightlife? Like, if I go out on a Wednesday, are there usually people out or is it only busy on weekends?

I’m a 29 year old international student from Central America, and I’ve started looking into accommodation options in Cardiff. I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations from current students or locals.

What are your thoughts on the university accommodation options? One of my concerns is ending up in a residence hall with mostly undergraduate students, as I’m looking for a quieter living environment. I’ve been living independently for several years and would prefer a place that is relatively calm and suited to postgraduate students.

I’ve also been researching private accommodation and have come across providers such as Unite Students, Collegiate, and University Living. Are these trustworthy options? What is the typical experience like in these types of accommodations?

Since my MSc is part of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, I understand that many of my classes will be around the Main Building and Cathays campus. Are there particular accommodation options or neighbourhoods that you would recommend for a postgraduate student?

I’ve seen so many ppl rave abt and put taly south first as app is the most social but i just cannot deal w a wetroom shower and the inc chances of silverfish 😖😳.
