And what kind of boat you would suggest? Small like zodiac or bigger and why ?

Appreciate it!

Muchas gracias

Lost luggage via SATA

I checked in for my flight 5 hours early with 2 pieces of luggage at JFK on the 19th. My husband’s luggage was at the baggage claim, but mine wasn’t as well as about 3/4 of the passengers. We keep checking the tracker on the website hoping that the bags will be on the flight landing in a few mins, but it says it hasn’t been located. Anyone else experience this? We’re about to find out if the suitcase arrives on the flight that just landed…. But I have a horrible feeling it’s lost 😞.

SATA Airlines Insurance

Me and my boyfriend are heading to the Azores in September for around two weeks. We're spending some time in Flores however because of the unpredictable weather we decided to get insurance with SATA Airlines just in case the flight gets cancelled etc. Anyone had any experiences with insurance claims/refunds with the airline? And does anyone tips or information on the way they operate?

Thanks so much

Schedule taxi service

Hey All,

I am attending a wedding in the northwester part of the island but I am staying in ponta delgada. Is there a taxi service I can book to bring us back to PDL from the wedding venue around 11pm-12am? We have a ride to the wedding but I would just like to schedule something to get us back to our hotel.

P.S. I already tried Bolt and I was unable to schedule a service.

Thanks in advance!

Bought spontaneous trip to Ponta Delgada - car required?

Update: we booked a car for two days to go to Furnas and other nice places 👌

Thank you all of you 👌

Original message:

Hi,

We bought a last minute trip for 7 days in Ponta Delgada. Leaving from Denmark tomorrow morning.

Is a car recommended for getting to places or is the local transport or taxi great/cheap?

We found out about Gin museum, Pineapple and tea plantations and hot springs - these are most likely the places we are going.

Any locale hidden gems or suggestions here 15 hours before departing?

Hello! My partner and me are landing in Ponta Delgada on 29th July and departing from there on August 9th late at night. What would be your suggestions to visit?

I was trying to look for flights, but only succeeded in finding connecting flights to Sao Jorge and Terceira. We like hiking, great landscapes and prefer to be far from the crowds. Prefer authentic to luxury. Is it true that inner flights are sometimes unreliable? I nearly gave up the idea of renting a car in sao Jorge (100e per day), Would you rather suggest Terceira (and there to rent a vespa or a car?)? I am afraid more than 2 islands in this time frame of 11 days will be 2much? Is there some real great diving to do? are the whale-wathing excursion a must or a tourist trap? Thank you, Eva

Boston layover

I’m looking at tickets and have an all day layover in Boston. We’d like to go exploring. Does anyone know if any of the hotels right by the airport will store luggage without staying there? I saw there are luggage places in the city but the airport would be better

Mount Pico without a guide, can I book an evening slot and skip the sleeping bag if I only want sunrise?

Planning to hike Mount Pico, no guide, we're experienced hikers. Goal is to catch the sunrise from the summit, then head straight back down. We don't want to actually camp or sleep in the crater.

Here's my confusion: from what I've read, any start between 16:00 and 24:00 with a descent after 8:00 counts as an "overnight stay," which makes a tent + sleeping bag mandatory. But we're not planning to sleep — we'd just climb through the night, watch the sunrise, and descend.

So a few questions for anyone who's done this recently:

  • Can you book an evening/night slot purely for a sunrise climb without registering as an overnight stay?
  • If you start in that overnight window but don't sleep in the crater, did they still require a tent and sleeping bag, or was a headlamp enough?
  • What's the latest start time they'll actually let you go? And do they give you grief about descending in the dark?
  • If gear is unavoidable — where did you rent a tent/sleeping bag on Pico, and roughly what did it cost?

Trying to figure out if we can do this light or if we're forced into full overnight gear either way. Any recent first-hand experience appreciated 🙏

Rental car in Furnas

Hi everyone!

I’m planning to visit Azores Sao Miguel island this September. Considering my trip schedule I wanted to rent a car for just a few days starting in Furnas, and then move to Ponta Delgada. The thing is that first few days I don’t really need a car. So my question is if it’s possible to rent a car in Furnas and then drop it off in Ponta Delgada? Anyone have experience with this? Or it’s only possible to pick up/drop off in PDL?

Thanks!

Obrigado!

Connecting flight through Lisbon

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

My girlfriend and I have booked a round trip through Lisbon in September. Our friends have a house on the island of Terceira and we plan on staying our first part of the trip with them.
We booked a flight to Terceira the same day we arrive in Lisbon.
Our Lisbon flight lands at 9:30am, and then our flight to Terceira is at 11:15am.
Is this enough time to connect? The flights are in separate tickets. We do not plan on checking bags.
I am hearing a lot of grievances with Lisbon airport and the delays, and we don’t want to cut it too close and risk missing our flight to Terceira.
Anyone with experience on this the advice is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Azores trip

Im going to visit: Terceira, Faial, Horta, Sao Jorge and Sao Miguel in August. As far as I understand, I can book scooters in the first three, while for the last two I should rent a car. Do you know of any companies that won’t ask me much for car rental in Sao Jorge or Sao Miguel and hopefully that don’t ask for credit card deposit? Cash or debit card works, but we dont own a credit card.
Thank you for the help anyone could provide
