Meta faq, wiki, trolls and you.

one of the most requested features i've seen is a frequently asked questions section, and we've always had one. it's within the wiki tab located at the top menu if you're browsing on desktop. here's the direct link to it, but since it's a wiki feel free to check out the other sections and please contribute.

with that out of the way, a couple things i want to clear up in case anyone is wondering:

  • i do not mind repeated questions. the whole point of this subreddit is to talk to people. if it's not entertaining you anymore, maybe browse it less. no, i will not sticky every other psa post.
  • i do utilize automod extensively and it helps with a lot of troll post removal behind the scene. so if you see a troll post, continue to downvote, report, and move on, and do not engage. the majority of you get this, and it's been working out quite well.
  • the rules haven't changed, but make sure you're aware of them.

have fun.

If you're under 18, please stay off Grindr. Seriously.

I know being gay teenager can feel really lonely.

Depending where you live, maybe you feel like there is no other LGBTQ people around your age.

So apps like Grindr can look like easiest way to find someone.

But please don't.

Grindr is made for adults. Most people there expect the person they are talking to is 18 or older.

If you are 16 or 17 and say you are older, you can put yourself and the other person in really bad situation.

Even if you are already above age of consent where you live.

Also, it is just not safe place for minors.

Yes, there are good people there.

But there are also people who can take advantage of someone who is young, inexperienced, or vulnerable.

If you are under 18, please try LGBTQ youth groups, school clubs, community centers, or online spaces that are actually made for teenagers.

You can meet people who are in similar age and same stage of life.

And without all the risks that come with adult dating or hookup apps.

And for adults here, if someone tells you they are actually under 18 after you already matched with them, please stop talking immediately. Be nice, be kind, be responsible adult.

End the conversation.

No hookup is worth risking someone safety or your own safety.

Being young and gay can be really difficult.

But Grindr is not the answer.

I accidentally overheard my gay nephew flirting with his boyfriend and now I'm the awkward one

My nephew is staying with us for a while because he is finishing his last year of college.

For few months he has been dating a guy long-distance. After some time he introduced his boyfriend to all of us through video calls.

His boyfriend seems like really nice person and everyone in family is happy for him.

Few nights ago I woke up late because I wanted to get glass of water.

When I walked past the guest room, I realized my nephew was on video call.

I was not trying to listen.

But before I could walk away, I heard enough to realize they were having a very private conversation.

And then I heard my nephew calling his boyfriend “daddy.”

More than once.

I immediately walked away.

But since then I cannot stop thinking about it.

Obviously, it's none of my business. I know consenting adults can have all kinds of private dynamics.

The problem is completely me.

Now every time I see my nephew, I feel awkward.

Not because of who he is dating.

Just because I accidentally learned something about his private life that I really wish I didn't hear.

I have been keeping conversations shorter because I feel embarrassed, even though he doesn't know I heard anything.

Should I just act like nothing happened and let the awkward feeling disappear by itself?

My instinct says bringing it up will only make everything much more embarrassing for both of us.

So I guess I should just pretend I never heard anything and move on?

Advice my husband hit me, but im kinda wrong?

Hello, me (25M) and my husband (28M) have been together for 6 years, married for 5 months. He's also my first boyfriend and I love him so much.

We did fight previously for various reasons, more serious reasons I'd say, but in the last 2 weeks we have been fighting over the most stupid things, though it wasn't so serious, and we'd get over it quickly.

Though last night we had an argument about where should we go for winter vacation. He talked about how he wanted to go to Hurghada, Egypt for a while but I always denied it and said I didn't want to go to an Arab Muslim country because it's not safe for gay people.
Last night as we came back from the grocery store, he brought up vacation to Egypt again. He started talking about how we could hide being gay and be perfectly safe, whereas I didn't want to listen to to any of that because I strongly denied travelling there.
After he was done explaining everything, he asked me "What do you think?", and I replied "I think I really like this bag of chips" (which I was eating the whole time).

After that he got really mad, he started yelling how I'm always unserious and never listen to him, and to that I just said "Mhm" in a sarcastic way. That really wasn't nice of me, but I thought it was obvious I was joking, but he got angrier and he got on me and tried to make me look at him, but I tried to get away. Then he humped me and held my arms on the sofa so I couldn't leave, and he started complaining about everything again, calmly this time though. I don't know why but for some reason I said "Yes, you right, you're aaalwayys right and I'm always wrong", sarcastically obviously, then he slapped me SO HARD across the face and left to the bedroom. I was so shocked, my cheeks were red.
I didn't know what to do or say, I just sat on the sofa.

About an hour later he got out and started saying how sorry he was but that I shouldn't have provoked him like that, I said "We'll talk tomorrow" because I was still so shocked. Then we kinda cuddled and fell asleep. We haven't talked the whole day because he was sleeping (he's on a day off), and now I'm on 2/3 of my 12 hour shift and don't know how to approach this at home.

I know I can forgive him and that this will not happen again, but I wanna hear your opinions and advice. I also know it was wrong to say things i did and provoke him.

My boyfriend spent almost his entire day traveling just to check on me while I'm sick

Not really looking for advice—I just wanted to share something that made me smile.

A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend came down with a nasty flu. I spent a weekend at his place making soup, picking up groceries, and trying to keep him company while he recovered.

Well... a few days later I ended up catching it too.

I've been miserable all week. Fever, sore throat, no energy, the whole package.

We live in different cities and neither of us has a car, so seeing each other isn't exactly easy. Today he had to travel across town for an appointment anyway, and instead of heading straight home afterward, he spent hours on buses and trains to stop by my apartment.

He couldn't stay long because I share the place with roommates and none of us wanted him getting sick again.

He handed me a bag with his old Nintendo Switch he'd been meaning to lend me, my favorite pastries from a bakery near his place, and some cold medicine he'd picked up on the way.

Then he gave me the biggest hug, told me to get some rest, and headed back to catch the next train home.

He was probably here for all of five minutes.

Honestly, those five minutes made my entire week.

Sometimes it's not about grand romantic gestures. It's knowing someone is willing to spend half a day traveling just to make sure you're okay.

I finally came out to my adult daughter last night

Last night I told my daughter, she is 24, something I been hiding almost my whole life

I spent so many years pretending to be someone I'm not

I been married to a woman for many years. Me and my wife care about each other, we really do, but for long time our relationship feel more like best friends than husband and wife

Keeping this part of myself hidden for so long has been very exhausting

I was terrified to tell my daughter

I didn't know how she would react

I keep imagining she will lose respect for me. Or she will think our whole family life was just a lie

But instead, she hugged me before I even finish explaining

We both cried for very long time

She told me she would rather have honest father than see me spend the rest of my life pretending to be happy.

I can't even explain the relief I feel.

It was one of biggest relief I ever had in my life.

But now there is the part that scares me most.

I still have to tell my wife.

We own house together. Our money is connected. Our life is connected in so many ways.

Separating everything is going to be very complicated.

And honestly, I really care about her.

I don't want to hurt her.

But I also know hiding the truth forever is not fair to her or to me.

I should have done this years ago.

Maybe many years ago.

Right now I feel relieved, scared, hopeful, and guilty all at same time.

I don't know what next few months will look like.

I don't know what will happen with my marriage.

I don't know what my life will look like after this.

But at least now, finally, I am taking first steps to stop pretending and start living honestly. That i am gay and i feel free to be my trueself.

Not a question Update to my husband cheating on me.

Upvotes

Hello, check my post history if you are interested, but here’s a handy link! Link

Four months ago I posted here seeking advice about how I process my husband cheating on me. My husband and I got married last year, and earlier this year I caught him positive on his STD results, when I myself have been clean and continue to test clean.

It’s been a journey, and we saw a couples counselor whose main value was parsing issues and refereeing between us. For context, I’ve been very ill, and my interest in sex has been nonexistent for years, which is slowly changing. I got some things taken out that were precancerous, had surgeries for that, and gotten hormone therapy to replace a deficit in testosterone that was pretty severe. I’ve lost weight, regained the ability to sleep, and currently am addressing other issues that sap energy. Quality of life is much higher.

I spoke frankly to my husband that I love him, and I’m not going to forget what he did, and that I forgive him, but I would sit apart from him and evaluate our future together over the next few months, potentially a year. I told him he could wait until I find my answer or he could choose to leave.

His answer was that he understood and wanted to repair our trust and relationship. We’ve worked on repairing our communication, and we’ve agreed that we’re somewhere between friendly roommates and predivorce. We also agreed we would not see other people, and that we would be transparent about our needs and wants going forward.

Right now as I sit here on break from work, I also have to learn to sit with the betrayal and lies that have happened, and evaluate if it will happen again. I made it clear that this is it. There isn’t a way to get me back if he steps out again and endangers my health that’s immunocompromised.

Sitting with the hurt and pain is tough, and it isn’t fun. But he has made an effort to give space when I need it, and to be respectful of my process and healing. He’s become more communicative, more receptive to feedback from me, and he has apologized for what he did while realizing that it also takes time, that normal for us is a long ways away.

That’s all I have, wanted to update you all. I’m grateful this is the last free-ish communities on Reddit where people can speak their mind on relationships.

Please leave any advice or comments below, I read it all. :)

Advice How should I approach me dad after this?

Upvotes

Hello everyone I am 18M and just recently started sleeping nude a little more than a month ago. Well unknown to me my family walked in on me a couple of times because my door doesn’t have a lock and they don’t knock. I am mortified about this I only know because my dad walked in on me yesterday when I was asleep and told me the next morning if my room was to hot and if I wanted an air conditioner put in my room which after telling me this, tells me multiple times my sibilings walked in on me. I am so mad because they are older than me and know better. I also never barge in their rooms because they have locks and I don’t find the need to do so. I’m more mad that they find a need to open my door just to see if I’m asleep because i already told them to knock and not to open my door but they continue to just keep barging in. This ended up leading me to move out the same day because I’m honestly tired of my family they can’t give me no privacy not even for a second and I think at this point there doing it on purpose. This happen multiple times a day and honestly since I was little they have been doing it, I have been vocal about it and this isn’t the only reason why I decided to stop talking to them this just what really just drive me to make my decision. Why this makes me mad is that it put me in a lot of embarrassing moments that didn’t need to happen if they had the respect and human decency I’ve always had to knock. I could you not I never once remember barging in any of my parents/sibilings room even as a little kid maybe if I was a toddler but since my earliest memories they have never respected or given me privacy. Plus we even have to share a bathroom which is always being used so my only private space is my room which isn’t even private. Anyways should I continue to stop talking with my family or should I just stop overreacting. My dad wants to talk about it and has admitted he still looked at me as a little kid could and he’s sorry if he’s been not respecting my boundaries but honestly I’m just tired of all of them and they bring me no joy and I dread seeing them or hearing them every day.
To anyone saying why would I sleep naked without a lock I let them know already know I sleep naked and they are well functioning adults that can understand that u already let them know I sleep naked and to please not open my door.
Yes I did try to add a lock when I was 13 but I learned I can’t disrespect my dad because he beat me so bad just because I added that lock that he ended up taking off which is also another reason I stopped talking to him he was very abusive.
Anyone trying to hate doesn’t understand that in order to move out you need money which I live in a country we’re I make minimum wage and I’m stuck working two jobs just to barely get by I was moving out anyway I just needed to save, this just caused me to move out sooner.
If anyone wants to know I only stopped talking to my dad that man was only good for working and funding my life when I was growing up as a kid.

Call Me Daddy

I (M47) have fully embraced younger guys wanting my dad bod and calling me daddy when we hook up. It turns me on so much that I tell them the more the say it, the bigger I’ll cum - which just gets them even more excited. I’m sure I’m feeding into their unhealthy father issues, but honestly I don’t care if we’re having fun.

Who else feels the same, or what younger guys love calling someone daddy?

For context, it’s not a turn on if someone 5-10 years calls me daddy and it’s a turn off when someone my age or older calls me it. It’s gotta be a true daddy/son situation.

He’s a 5, but he picks you flowers for every date/meetup

Upvotes

When you two get a coffee, he picks you a little bouquet and gifts it to you, when you go on dates he gives you a little rose, when he comes to your place he has some flowers from his garden cut in a vase for you.

You never mentioned anything about liking flowers, he just does what he did with his ex girlfriends (he’s bi and his first time with a man) and keeps doing it.

Am I an Abusive boyfriend ?

Upvotes

So last night I slapped my boyfriend on the face, and he was so shocked, and then I totally felt bad after it. The thing is my boyfriend loves slapping my cheeks, like a lot, and it’s sometimes extremely painful, I told him not to do it that hard and he always says yes, but then continues, and he always use the same excuse « I love the sound your ass makes when I touch them » And it makes him horny, but yesterday he slapped me so hard that I turned and slapped him back, and he just stood there and looked at me in shock.

I told him I was sorry, he said it’s fine, now he understands how I feel. But now I feel so bad and I’m scared to be an abusive person, because after all he slap my cheeks because he finds it hot. Do you people think I’m abusive ?

Advice Hooking up with a friend..

Recently I slept over at my best friend's house, and during the night while watching a movie, he asked me to give him oral sex. Obviously I thought he was joking, but then he told me how he was really horny at that moment and that he's been kinda curious to let a guy give him a BJ, but didn't have anyone to trust.

After I realized that he was not joking, I obviously didn't want to miss the opportunity, so I told him yes. He turned off the TV and I went down on him all night long.

The next morning, it didn't take long for us to start talking about it, but he shut me down with a simple, "Just don't tell anyone what happened last night, I trust you."

So now I came here to Reddit trying to understand what all of this means...

Does anyone actually like sucking dick?

All I hear from my gay and female friends is that they hate sucking dick. They say they only do it because the other person wants it and that it feels like a chore. I love it though. Sometimes it gets a bit boring when the guy lasts for too long, but I feel so in control.

Gym locker 🍑confession

There’s this hot gym guy that I see every morning during my workout. He’s your average Chad… tall, dad bod, and with a fat juicy bubbly ass for no reason. I’m alway staring at his ass from a far.

Well I finished early and I went into the locker room I saw him with only a towel cover his dick. His dad bod was so sexy with a hairy chest. He turned around and there it was. His fat juicy bubbly ass bare naked. I immediately got hard. All I wanted to do was get on my knees spread his checks apart and eat him out. I’d lay on the bench next to him and have him sit on my face riding me. I wanted to taste home so badly. I could feel myself begin to leak pre from how turned on I was..

Not a question Im starting to realise top and bottom is just a lable

I think that i thought 1 person needs to be masculine and 1 person needs to be feminine and i think my boyfriend probably had the same idea as im his first boyfriend

At first he wanted me to top him which i was happy to do because thats all id known then he asked to top me which i dont actually mind it just confused me because i dont wanna act feminine i just want to be me

He told me He watches staight porn and pretends hes the girl getting fucked and thats fine with me but i dont want to pretend to be a girl i want to be the guy getting dick from my bf 😭

I went to 3 different shops NON of them sold lube so we still havent done anal, i think we will but i dont think top and bottom needs to mean masculine and fem sometimes im masculine and sometimes fem and sometimes hes fem and sometimes hes masculine

Skinny Dipping fun

Upvotes

My neighbours saw me skinny dipping in my pool and he just moved in with his wife. He asked if I was “enjoying the water” from his balcony and I said yes nervously. We spoke for abit and he likes skinny dipping too. Do I invite him to a swim? One thing to keep in mind is that he is straight and I’m gay.

Advice Kinda need help lol

Upvotes

Hi I guess this is the best place to ask for help, so it's the first time I'm with a man, our relation is going super well but my boyfriend has a fetish for feet/armpits and specifically when it's smelly. Now the thing is I like to be super clean and don't want to do anything except if I'm super fresh and i hate sweating or being smelly, but every time I get off the gym he tries to do it and affirm it does not disgust him or try to take my socks . I don't know what to do because I can't fully enjoy knowing I reek of sweat (plus all my past girlfriends also liked to do it while being clean), this is new and I'm afraid one day he'll think I stink ? But I also want to pleasure him since it gets him going so I don't know. Is this something gays love , is it normal ?
