Can I point my speaker at him and play a super high frequency ringing until he fucks off?

Context: We used to live across from this guy. All last summer he sat in the hallway and did this same thing. Loud as fuck, we could hear it over our TV.

We moved to the first floor, corner apartment. Now, he parks his bike outside our apartment on the sidewalk and sits there for sometimes 2 hours and does the same thing. He’s shown over the course of a year he doesn’t give a fuck about us, so now I genuinely don’t give a fuck about him.

What would you do?

Maybe I just found it funny because this is the third person this week to catch me off guard in my building. We have lived here for 4 years and no one has ever talked to me as much as they have this past week. This woman just moved in a week or two ago. We had a big storm and it was very windy for a while. We have valet trash and live in a tunnel basically so the trash cans keep falling over. My apartment is probably 6-8 feet in front of hers. The very next day she had a ring camera up and ignored my polite note explaining how windy it gets. I’m just amused because at first I really thought she was trying to say we are messing with her trash can. We are 2 girls in our early 20s. She can’t be much older not sure why we can’t become friends but instead “obviously” I just moved in and “feel free to explain” lol? I don’t see anything wrong with ring cameras I have also been thinking of getting one I’m sure she just wants to be safe. However, is it wrong of me to be slightly annoyed that I’m filmed directly in front of my face every time I go in and out of my apartment all of a sudden because the wind blew? It’s probably not related right and she was already planning on putting it up. We finally ran into each other on the stairs the other day and she was cussing someone out over the phone she seems to be super fun.

I miss our old neighbor, it was a quiet man and his girlfriend (I think) with a dog named slim jim and we wouldn’t talk but sometimes we would occasionally leave dog treats at each others door like if I accidentally bought something that my dog couldn’t have vise versa.
I know it’s not a big deal at all, just venting bc I was having such a day when I came across the note and I just thought there was no way

I am new to my state and just moved into my complex almost a month ago. 3 days ago a girl around my age moved in across from me. I don’t have any friends here so I was thinking of making cookies and gifting it to her as a welcome gift.

My fiance said I shouldn’t because she most likely will throw it out thinking it’s poisoned as well as she seemed a bit on the spectrum and he doesn’t want me to give her any wrong ideas because being a bit of an extrovert I can be a bit intense.

Should I avoid it and let conversation start naturally instead?

I live in a 5 unit townhome/apartment building and we all share 1 washer and dryer. I notice some people always leave their pet hair in the washer and don’t clean up the lint catcher.

I told my landlord and they sent out a reminder to everyone to keep the washer/dryer clean but I think 1 person is still not doing it.

On top of that I notice there’s a foul mildew smell because of the pet hair and because of leaving the washer dryer closed. So I wrote a very friendly note saying

“Hi all, I noticed there’s a bit of a mildew smell in the washer. I ran a clean cycle and read online to leave the door open between washes to let it air out properly. Sharing in case this helps!”

I checked the next day and someone did laundry without keeping the door open or cleaning the pet hair in the drum. Am I overreacting about this? I have a pet too so I understand but I wouldn’t want someone else’s laundry to have all my pet hair or be washed in potential mold?

I just feel weird because I’m one of the newer tenants and really don’t want to cause problems. My next door neighbor has been living here for 20 years and has already been snarky to me about other things.

I've never had cats before so I am really not sure if this is considered ~acceptable~ by most people's standards but I'm not sure if this is worth contacting my leasing office about lol. Basically my upstairs neighbors keep their cat outside all the time - it seems like they leave the patio door cracked so it can come and go as it pleases but I really can't tell. Whenever I'm sitting on my patio it scares the hell out of me bc it'll just suddenly start thumping around up there. Currently sitting here having a little drinky drink and it scared the bajeezus out of me. I don't have a huge problem w this since it doesn't seem to be in distress (but it is really hot and muggy where I live) - but I can SMELL the litter box and every time it uses it when I'm outside.

I love cats but litter boxes are so disgusting to me and I feel like 1) it shouldn't be outside where I can smell it and 2) when they're cleaning it they shouldn't be sweeping stuff over the balcony so that I basically see litter rain. lol. On top of that, I'm noticing cat hair on my patio. I am asthmatic and lowkey allergic to cats, or at least I was as a kid. Haven't tested it enough as an adult to know for sure.

Is this normal? Am I wrong to be annoyed by this/report to management? For some context, I've only lived here for a couple months and already complained once about thumping at insane hours, which has been fixed. I don't want to be an asshole about it but I really would like to enjoy a snack on my patio without literally gagging from the smell 😭

ETA: there is a cat tree outside which leads me to believe it is outside more than inside

Our management asked us if they could do this and we agreed!

So our management is going to move our furniture, rip up the carpet, put thick carpet padding down, and then replace the carpet. They are also going to reimburse us for buying a rug for our kitchen and little entry way, up to $300, if anyone has any good suggestions for this please send my way!

Overall we are happy that are management is assisting and not just pushing this aside.

I'm moving into an apartment with the pictured combined living/kitchen/dining space and I'm trying to figure out how to configure the layout (the apartment is unfurnished). Has anyone used a rolling tv console setup or something similar before? Any issues with the wiring? The thought would be to have a TV on a rolling console table that would tuck up against the left wall wall when not in use, but could be rolled out in front of the tv to be used. I'm renting, so a wall mount is not an option.

Additional info: I have already purchased a couch in the size pictured. The sample seating/table is the dimensions of the IKEA TORNVIKEN counter (which is what I'd be looking to get).

Firstly, Monday was the 20th, not the 21st like their email says. We got this email Monday at 10am after they had started inspections on building 1. We're in building 2. While I'm home they enter my apartment. We've scoured our emails, spam boxes, everything and they never let us know 24 hours in advance. They let building 1 know an hour after they started and let us know only an hour or two before they got to us. We're kind of messy people so we're worried we'll get a violation because it wasn't spotless and they e given us violations when our apartment was actually clean just because some yarn was out from me crocheting the night before. So the fact we couldn't do any cleaning at all means we're definitely getting a violation again. What are our rights here, like if they give us a violation can we fight it because they didn't give us enough notice?

My apartment is on the third floor and we have an extreme heat advisory pretty much everyday, my apartment gets 10 degrees hotter than the thermostat and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to keep the heat out or how to keep my apartment a bit colder so that my thermostat isn’t working overtime.

In my complex, we have several dumpsters outside throughout our parking lot that we can put our trash in. Clearly the garbage company missed at least one pickup, if not more than one. Every single dumpster is now overflowing, so it's not like just one of them was blocked by a wrongly parked car or something. Supposedly the leasing office is aware but they're pretty hit-or-miss with handling issues that come up. (I totally get that it may not be the leasing office's fault and it's probably an issue with the garbage company.) Is it worth it to call the garbage company if it doesn't get picked up in a few days, or is that weird because I'm just a tenant and not a property owner? At what point does this become a health department thing?

Hi - mid-30s guy with high-functioning autism, moving out of mom's house and looking for my first apartment. Live in a decent size US east coast city, not huge but not small either. Choices are a garden apartment that is private and close to transportation but not to shopping and restaurants, or a high-rise apartment that is literally surrounded. Most of my socializing is talking to strangers, so I think I'd like being in a high rise where I'd be bumping into different people, but not sure if they'd be okay with me. I don't get social cues and tend to talk in a monologue about my favorite topics (video games and movies, mostly.) I would be okay in a smaller building but lonelier. Would it bother you if I was your neighbor? I don't want any trouble.

For me, it’s having a unit directly above the building's main entrance/dumpster route or having single-pane windows facing the parking lot.

I moved into my current place thinking, "Oh neat, I can see my car from the window!"

Turns out, I can also hear every single person locking their car with the loud double-beep at 11 PM, every engine idling at 6 AM, and every casual conversation as if they’re standing at the foot of my bed. I never realized how much baseline noise double-pane glass actually blocks until I lost it.

Hello! I just moved into an apartment three weeks ago. My upstairs neighbor is so freaking loud. Everyday… multiple times throughout the day and into the night, it sounds like they’re either dropping a bowling ball on the floor, running, on a rowing machine, or vacuuming?!?! They also stomp so loud.

I want to write a note and put it on their door basically telling them to stop being so loud but in a nicer way. Is this an okay thing to do? or do I go to the leasing office?

I’ve lived in various apartment complexes all with an upstairs neighbor and I’ve never experienced noise this bad. How should I best handle this?

Hi, as title described, someone swiped my car in my apartment parking lot.

Context: i parked my car in my apartment's parking lot on Monday night and this afternoon (Wednesday) i went out to get food when i returned and exit the vehicle, i noticed that my driver side rear bumper got side swiped by another car. i did not pay attention to the bumper when i get on that's why i didn't notice the damage or i would not have driven out to get food.

there is not another car that hit me during me buying food since i got drive through and i would have felt it, so it must be someone living in the neighborhood that did this.

my apartment is in Philadelphia, PA

Initial Action: i checked the surrounding of the location where i parked my car originally, and i noticed that there might be 2 security cameras that might filmed this incident. i let the building owner awake of this incident and send as much detail as possible. Hopefully, the building owner can pull footage from the cameras and help identify the other vehicle.

My Question: IF i am able to get the footage from building owner. what should i do? should i file a police report? or should i contact the owner of the other vehicle and go through insurance?

Any input would be helpful. Thank you in advance

I noticed some odd sounds coming from my bathroom fan and had my maintenance check it out. Maintenance found that my fan hadn’t been open/working properly, something about it turning on but not actually sucking the air thru. I don’t see any visible mold or damage but yikes… I don’t know what to do now.

edit: Fan is also noticeably louder now & I usually shower with the bathroom door cracked (if that changes anything)

Honestly awkward asf. Luckily the walls are not thin enough to hear anything other than their bed squeaking. Luckily its never lasted more than 2 minutes but it is a very uncomfortable 2 minutes...eesh...

The company I was working for shutdown down due to lack of work and I’m currently renting a house but have to be out by august 15th because the current landlord’s are getting a divorce and selling the house. My question is should I get something not great for around $1300-1500 a month or just get something much nicer for around $1700-1900 while in between jobs? I have significant savings while I look for a new job and also have an interview lined up but not sure if I want it just yet. Any advice?

Hello all I just wanted to know if i was over reacting

I live in an affordable living complex, I pay a decent amount, always on time never late.

Mt question is, there are no trash cans in the complex. There are 3 dog bag stations but no trash cans except for the dumpsters off complex

This may not seem like an issue, but there is glass, drug and drug paraphernalia waste and animal waste, one time they renovated the grounds and left out wood boards with nails in them on the floor.

The reason im so wound up about the trash cans is not the lack of trash can, it is the safety

I am a woman, I can not go to the dumpsters before early morning or past 7/8 pm, there are homeless individuals and tweakers raiding the trash can. I myself have thrown animal poop and other in the trash can around them but due to the nature of these individuals they get aggressive, some even wearing ski masks. These individuals are not your average homeless individuals, they are all hopped up on something and not afraid to show it

There is nothing we can do

I feel as though it is unsafe for a multitude of reasons but the main one being unsafety due to parking lot situation. I myslef have also almost been hit 3 separate times trying to use the dumpster

i got the keys to my new apartment last week and im honestly kinda freaking out. the place is empty and i got no appliances other than the fridge and stove that came with it. been looking around online and theres way too many options. like i know i need a microwave but beyond that im lost. coffee maker? toaster? blender? air fryer? instant pot? its alot to figure out. the thing im struggling with most is what order to buy stuff in cuz i cant afford to get everything at once.

what appliances did you guys buy first when you moved into your first place and where can i get? also anything you bought that you ended up never using so i can avoid the same mistake.

This is going to be my first time living in an apartment so I want to make sure I'm not forgetting something crucial before moving in.

I was looking for apartments for months before my friend's roommate said a few weeks ago that she's moving out of the end of the month, so I plan to take over her lease. When I asked her how long she had stayed there, she said 10 months. I asked her what the renting process was like with the deposit. She said that I would give it to her like she gave the last person. I said, last person? She was like, yeah, I'm like the 3rd subleaser. It's crazy that this place hasn't been on the market for at least a year and just switched hands. It's in a great location, too. Super interesting.
