Today a super weird thing happened to me.I went to an apartment called The Cliftwood in Sandy Springs for viewing a 2b2b unit with my friend.The lady at the apartment told us she can't show us the unit without our IDs.Fair enough!! I showed my physical copy and my friend showed on Phone.
Then she said she will keep my physical id and my friend's phone in the office and return us after the tour.I asked her the reason and all i got was "Company Policy".This was my first visit to the place and I haven't even seen the unit or filled any paperwork.
Is this normal?
I was super angry as I suspect it was a case of racial profiling.I asked other nearby apartments and they don't have this requirement.
I am a little disturbed by this incident

TLDR; I’ll try to keep it quick, I have a friend (female) who is trying to move down here August 15th for a job. She’s getting paid 2100 monthly and is trying to be in north Atlanta / dunwoody area. Her max rent budget is 950 but anything lower than that is great. We’ve been trying to find places but everywhere is either an hour commute from her job or costs too much money.

Extra info: Not in the best position financially but the job is very very good for her resume (won’t get into specifics for privacy) but unfortunately doesn’t pay good. Are there any suggestions on where she could go?

I mentioned female because she is open to having roommates , but would like them to be women. I’m the only person she knows in Georgia and I’m a guy so yeah

How loud is it at night living at the edge apartments on the beltline? I have found a good price apartment but am worried about noise levels since I am a light sleeper.

Hi! I am considering moving to the Atlanta area for a job opportunity in Alpharetta. I’ve searched Reddit for similar questions and most recommend avoiding the commute and living closer to work. However, the most important aspect of where I live is access to queer nightlife and lesbian community. It sounds like this would mean Midtown or Decatur and it looks like I’d have a slightly shorter commute from Midtown. How bad is this commute going to be? I’ve been google maps-ing it from my future office to a random apartment building in midtown and even at rush hour the longest I’ve seen is 45 mins…is this an accurate representation of an average commute? I will be commuting 3x per week (exit 8 in Alpharetta if that makes a difference). I do workout everyday so I could go to a gym/running trail in Alpharetta after work and not begin commuting home until 6:30/7pm. 

I’m also open to hearing if there are other places I could live that I might be overlooking. I’m a very social person and I do triathlons/lots of running and biking so a Saturday morning spent running in Piedmont Park or biking on the Beltline with brunch after and an evening out with friends would be my ideal day which makes me think Midtown is where I’d want to be. I’m also single so I want to live somewhere I could easily meet people/go on dates. I’ve looked at Buckhead but I’m not sure if compromising and living there would be worth it because the inconvenience of driving into the city for events on my days off (slightly inconvenient 7 days Buckhead vs very inconvenient 3 days Midtown). I guess I’m just looking for a sanity check on if it makes sense for me to have a longer commute to/from Midtown after factoring in everything I’ve mentioned in exchange for making my other 4 days as ideal as possible.

Other info: Single woman/early 30’s/I’m less concerned with the cost of rent and more concerned with overall quality of life 

Side question - If anyone has any commentary on being LBGTQ in Georgia that would also be appreciated. I’d be moving from a liberal part of PA (purple state surrounded by blue states). I feel people are generally very accepting up here and am a bit nervous about moving to the South. I know Atlanta is very liberal and accepting but how bad is it outside of that bubble?

Nice and peaceful area filled with single family homes, right off of Lawrenceville Hwy but still quiet. Lindmoor Woods neighborhood. Looking for one or two people to take the whole top floor of this family-owned house which has a nice kitchen with island and living room area, besides the 3 bed & 2 bath. Patio, carport and yard as well. Real easy access to Emory, Decatur Square, anywhere hopping on 285 right outside of the neighborhood.

I occupy the basement floor, only laundry will be shared at the bottom of the stairs and we can otherwise keep to ourselves. I'll have control over the yard but you're welcome to use it. If you want to pay less and only want the master bed and large double vanity bathroom, and maybe another of the bedrooms, I am open to sharing the kitchen and living room and negotiating a lesser base rent. I am 25, male with a dog and would not want other animals in the house.

Hi! My wife and I are considering a move from the Nashville area to Atlanta! We have visited a few times and had great experiences. We are planning to go for a trip soon to scout out apartments, but wanted to narrow down locations since the area and its suburbs are pretty spread out! Right now, we are looking around Duluth, Kennesaw, or Alpharetta since my job has locations that I can transfer to there. Absolutely willing to go outside of those areas if it works! Our max rent budget is $1.6k per month all in with utilities, and we are looking for a 1 bedroom.

Some more info about us:
- We are a lesbian couple, 25 and 24 with a 5yo dog and 8yo cat, so lgbtq and pet friendly areas are a must!
- We both have cars, so parking is a necessity as well.
- Wife is finishing their MPS in the Business of Fashion. Will be looking for a new job more aligned with their degree in product development, visual merchandising, etc.
- We love trying new restaurants, activities, and are big into music and arts, not necessarily outdoorsy people.

I'm looking at potentially moving to the O4W/Inman Park area in a couple of months. I was wondering what the consensus is for best buildings in those areas. My budget is fairly flexible based on what I've seen so far. The main things I'm optimizing for are:

1. Sound-proofing: Apartment living drives me crazy when I can hear my neighbors talk since I tend to sleep pretty early
2. Known for being a more social building or hosting a lot of gatherings

I realize the two are kind of in opposition to each other to some extent, but if someone gets what I mean (lol) and has suggestions, that'd be awesome!

Assume looking to spend roughly $1700-2500 (closer to 2000 preferably), 1 bed, mid-20s young professional, don’t know many people so prioritize socializing and walkability (fwiw - I’ll still have a car and will be working in midtown) to be around and meet people and make new friends / community. Hi everyone! I'm trying to figure out a good location for me and my boyfriend to live. I'll be starting a new job soon as an RN and the hospital is in Decatur so I'd like to be closer to the hospital if possible because I'll be working 12 hour night shifts. My boyfriend is going back for his master's at KSU so I also don't want him to have a miserable commute every day. The ideal budget is under 2,000/month for either a one or two bedroom (preferably a two bedroom but I know I can only ask for so much and be so picky lol). Our priorities are a safe area, around 20-25ish minute drive from the hospital and not an awful drive to the KSU center (maybe 30-45 minutes??) Restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and things to do nearby are a huge plus as I love to go out!! I've been looking around the Brookhaven area already but I'm not sure if I'm overlooking any other neighborhoods that would make more sense. If anyone has been in a similar situation or has recommendations for specific apartment complexes or neighborhoods, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!!

I have an eviction from about a yea ago. I’ve been using Padsplit for housing since then, and the experience hasn’t been the best.

Does anyone know of any housing rental companies or apartments that accept 1 year old evictions? Also, my student loans have severely dinged my credit.. it’s right around 600..

My budget is $1350 per month. Looking to stay within 25 mins of the city.
