So I just downloaded ITAK on my phone, plan on downloading ATACK on my laptop when I get home, I’m wanted to get a couple buddies set up on it as well but I have no idea how to add people or even connect to a server, preferably I don’t have to pay for a server as well

So i just created open tak server for the first time, got the sertificates, and created users in admin tab. But when the users sign in to the server they cant see each other, only upload packages to the server. If two users connect to the same wifi - they appear on the map and can use the chat function. Firewall is set to allow traffic on 8089 and 8088 ports. Online port checler says the ports are open. Tried creating user for rabbitmq as Gemini suggested, still didint help. Am i missing something? Surely i cant be the only one having this problem. Im new to programing and as soon as Gemini runs out of ideas so do i. Appreciate any help!

I have been trying to use third party pipeline but the plugin samples came with gradle 8.8.2 predefined, and the gradle version on third party pipeline is 6.9, which is unsupported now, and I cannot downgrade gradle lower than 8.1.1, since the methods used in gradle script are not available in any version lower than 8.1.1.

Is there any updated documentation about the civ release build process to generate signed apks on SDK 5.4.0?

Was just wondering, does anyone know of a TAK/ATAK lab type of thing, where you could learn to break something to learn how to rebuild it? Fixing a very broken ATAK system rn, and I was just wondering if anybody possibly knew anything about a TAK ecosystem lab, apart from your own network and setup.

The goal is whenever an identity authenticates to the server it's forced to use a specific callsign tied to that identity rather than letting the client set its own.

Hello, does anybody know how to download OSM map for offline use? I would like the entire world map but don't know thats possible, (file too big?)

Im currently using the TAK map but that isn't exactly the best for my region.

Weird title, I know. But I can't really describe the issue in 10 words.

I have two cellphones running ATAK 5.6 with Mestastic and Plugins. I need the ability to update information on one cellphone from the other. Basically a spotter tracking a target and periodically updating the position.

The problem is, on the second device the marker keeps moving through the positions in a loop. I place the marker at point A on my device, send the information. I move it to point B, send the information. I move it to point C, send the information. The second phone gets every update. But then, without additional input, the marker moves to position A again, then B, then C while I don't do anything on my phone. And it keeps repeating this sequence over and over again.

Even if I delete the marker on my phone AND the receiver phone, the marker just reappears on the receiver phone and keeps jumping.

After a while I start to get an error message on my phone saying that "Transfer failed - Max retries Exceeded" and eventually a "Dutycycle limit reached" and then I get that notification over and over again. The device seems to be resending the same data over and over again, looping through. I have ACK enabled so, to the best of my understanding, it should send every message once and then stop. What am I doing wrong?

Edit 1: So far, I have changed the speed to Medium Fast, set the hop number to 1 on both ATAK and within meshtastic and checked if messages repeat. Messages are not sent repeatedly and the change in speed has not resolved the problem. I have made a short video illustrating the issue. The phone on the right is my "source". I placed the red marker and changed it's position to 3 different spots. The phone on the right received all changes and then kept cycling through them despite me not doing anything on the "source" phone anymore:

Connecting IP- based cameras is straight forward, but did anyone ever try to connect PIRs or seismic sensors to produce reliable COT- Data in ATAK? If yes which kind sensors are cost effective, work well and show the most promise?

Does anyone know if you're able to connect the raspberry pi HAT from Rak wireless (running meshtastic) to the opentak server running on the raspberry pi? I've heard it must be done using an MQTT bridge, which would require more complex stuff.

Built a current Flock/ALPR camera KMZ for ATAK — most of the ones floating around are pretty out of date

I kept running into Flock/ALPR camera overlays for ATAK that were months (or longer) out of date — cameras that have been moved or added since, missing whole regions, etc. The DeFlock dataset gets updated constantly, but most of the KMZ exports people are passing around were generated once and never refreshed.

So I pulled a fresh export and converted it to a clean KMZ:

• 106,283 camera locations, current as of 6/25/2026
• 115,000+ directional FOV cones showing which way each camera is aimed (about 98.6% of the source records had a heading)
• Loads into ATAK, iTAK, or WinTAK as a standard KMZ
• Works offline once imported
• Tap a camera for brand, operator, mount type, and OSM ID

All the underlying data is from OpenStreetMap and the DeFlock project (deflock.org) — they do the actual mapping, I just wrote the conversion and matched the rendering so it looks close to their web map. Shared under the same ODbL license as the source.

One honest heads-up: the full national file is ~250k geometries in a single KMZ, so it's a little slow to load on older Android EUDs. Works fine, just give it a few seconds. If people want lighter state-by-state cuts I can split it.

Plan is to re-export this periodically as the dataset grows so it doesn't go stale like the others. If anyone spots a camera that's missing, add it at deflock.org and it'll roll into the next update.
