Why is Yeli just swinging at so many balls man. He’s fouling off so many pitches that he should just be taking
1
u/BibFortuna2830 2m ago
I'm really thinking he's broken and this is just who he is now. His power is now nonexistent so all we can hope for are singles or doubles down the lines.

I’m calling it now and you superstitious ppl can kiss my butt. This is the Ortiz cycle game.

Our hitters’ approach to ABS challenges is SO BAD.
Either a guy does not even consider it or it’s El Gary who uses them like they go bad at the end of the inning.
I feel like they really need somebody to be coaching this because there looks to have been zero change or improvement since basically the second week of the season. If it was clear they were trying something that’d be one thing, but it really looks like there’s no plan at all.

u/mgrunner 2m ago
The Chourio lack of a challenge in the bottom of the 9th with two challenges remaining lives rent free in my brain. I think it was last Friday.
6
u/Breakdown1738 Yoho Truther 7m ago
I know this is not a team specific thing but man I'd just love for all our guys to figure it out and be hot at once. It's like Joey O sapped all of Bauers's hitting or something.
Maybe they're just waiting until October...

Over the last month or so, Joey Ortiz looks better at the plate than _____________ (current Brewers only).

Considering how that’s gone the last few weeks, not sure it would be much better
4
u/BibFortuna2830 15m ago
Fans and clinging to their prospects: name a more dynamic duo lol.
Made, Lara and Pratt are untouchable but this team has consistent starters at at least 5 or 6 spots for the very, very foreseeable future.
We can afford to give up a few top 10 guys.

Hammy and Lock on rehab assignments, love to see it! Get them boys healthy!

Mason Miller would take at least Luis Peña. Too high of a price due to the amount of control. Adrian Morejon is the answer

The radio turtleneck talk is hilarious. It helps being the same age as these guys I think.
3
u/Immediate-Floor8785 25m ago
Man I know this is partially just blowing smoke up our asses but can we cut out the Skubal talk?
2
u/Breakdown1738 Yoho Truther 21m ago
It is kind of interesting that I feel like we're hearing more buzz around the Brewers making a big splash at the deadline vs last year.
I know media just wants their clicks but it was a foregone conclusion we weren't gonna take a swing at Suarez or one of the other bats last July vs Skubal has been talked about for months and the MLB is actively using Sabathia in their promos for the deadline.
2
u/Immediate-Floor8785 19m ago
Agreed 100%. I’m just kind of over it, lol we’d have to give up way too much.
1
u/Intelligent_Pilot591 16m ago
I genuinely don’t think Skubal will cost as much as people think. He’s a rental who is coming off an injury (even if he’s been solid since then)
1
u/Immediate-Floor8785 7m ago
I mean, yeah that’d be sick. Idk if I buy it. It just seems a little out of reach. Think they can throw in Giannis while they’re at it? Lol
1
u/Intelligent_Pilot591 5m ago
I don’t agree that it’s out of reach. Problem is that we can make a good baseline offer but we lose a bidding war with the Dodgers. My only hope is that Skubal just stays put if we don’t somehow get him. I will be sick if the Dodgers or Cubs get him

6
u/boogalous 27m ago
No way we’d get Mason Miller. Way too much we’d have to give up.
1
u/Intelligent_Pilot591 21m ago
Ridiculous to even say that name on the air. The Padres traded a guy who’s currently the #2 prospect in baseball for him. I think he was 4th when that trade happened. Even though we are great at finding and cultivating talent in the farm system, we would have to give up way too many guys to get him
1
u/evancomposer Wild Bill!!! 28m ago
God damn Bill you really need to pull it together

u/Breakdown1738 Yoho Truther 28m ago
A healthy Miz/Harrison/Henderson rotation in the post-season is extremely competitive but I do worry about how young it is. I know we will have Woody hanging around the clubhouse (& Mccullers in the bullpen I suppose) but as an armchair GM I like the vibes of a Quintana-esque guy as an "ol' reliable" option for a 7 game series.
(I am not advocating for Skubal specifically)
1
u/Intelligent_Pilot591 26m ago
Skubal would be fun but wild. Joe Ryan feels like the home run we could actually hit

u/Immediate-Floor8785 29m ago
Honestly Joey has always been on of my favs despite his bat, so this past month had been a dream I’m so thrilled for him.
2
u/UKbanners 31m ago
Bo Bichette has the same fWAR as Joey Ortiz (near enough). We were never going to sign him, but nice to get a reminder that the SS Free Agent crop wasn't really worth The Brewers getting involved in.
2
u/AlottaFajitas 31m ago
It's so annoying when other teams run up pitch counts on our pitchers.
I love it when we do it to other teams, but I hate it when they figure out they can do it too.

That awkward feeling where you want more parity in baseball but hate billionaire propaganda
1
u/Gamer_Paul 20m ago
More like the irony of it. Billionaires push for it in sports, but do everything in their power to destroy it in real life.
2
u/cmrc03 33m ago
For the people that are asking if we should trade Hendo for Skubal: NO.
3
u/evancomposer Wild Bill!!! 31m ago
Do people really want that? I feel like most Skubal proposals are prospect packages
1
3
u/Intelligent_Pilot591 29m ago
It feels like a straw man argument to say that people have been bringing up Henderson
3
u/Intelligent_Pilot591 32m ago
Has anyone said that? I haven’t seen anyone suggest Henderson be in a Skubal package
1
u/cmrc03 22m ago
He’s the piece I see floated on Twitter most of the time
1
u/Intelligent_Pilot591 19m ago
Weird. Never seen it brought up at all. It would be mostly prospects. I do think the Tigers would want someone to plug into their rotation but we should float Gasser as that guy

Scott is a good pitcher so pretty great to have him up to 50 pitches in the 2nd inning.
On top of the 3 runs they've dropped on him.

Yeli won't start doing damage on the pitches he really wants until he can humble up and take some walks. I fully trust that a player like him will do it but he's gotta get the swing and miss in check. Used to feel like he was an automatic walk at the plate
