Frustrating to talk about anything close to the KH Missing-Link leak when Pat hasn't even played anything past Birth By Sleep, let alone recently. To know anything about Missing-Link itself, that opening makes a fair amount of sense.
For context, Missing-Link followed keybearers in a time between the two previous mobile games, where they dive into a portal from a research facility to reach the Astral Plane, exploring its expanse and fighting the heartless. The Astral Plane itself is close to what is ostensibly our real world, depicted through the game's geolocation gimmick (like Pokemon Go, but with KH gameplay). As it represents the real world, wading through the dark to a place that looks like modern-day Shibuya, which has already been revealed in KH3 and Melody of Memories as Quadratum, is a world of fiction to the reality of Kingdom Hearts.
So, to see the leaked opening of a group of keybearers in diving suits, encountering heartless and ending up in Quadratum, yeah, that all tracks. A striking juxtaposition, of course, but if you're up to date, it's not exactly completely out of nowhere.

Kingdom Hearts' internet reputation as "all games are plot critical" has kind of poisoned the perception of the game's story at this point. Like, you don't need to play the mobile game to understand what happened 100 years ago, when they summarized it in adequately enough in a Secret Report in the mainline games. I feel like even if you're caught up to Birth By Sleep you can infer enough from that trailer to understand what they were going for.

I mean, kinda? The mobile games had info that we never got from the main series, which include some critical info, like Eraqus and Xehanort's childhood; KHUX Mc being Xehanort's caretaker, capital D Darkness as the real villain, Marluxia and Larxene's nobodies and origin, Strelitzia as a whole; Ventus' actual origin, Dream Eater's origins, and many more
Yeah, the info isn't exactly tied to Sora's main quest (for now), but it adds a lot to the overrall series lore and characters

True, and it's particularly true for how people say you needed to play KHUx to understand KH3, when all the context you needed was the Back Cover movie that is painfully easy to find, and gave you the actual information you needed for KH3, since it dealt with events that weren't even depicted in KHUx's cutscenes.
With Missing-Link though, it feels like a lot of the reactions now are people that last they thought of Kingdom Hearts it was just Disney and anime smooshed together, so astronauts diving into some dark place that turns into a modern city kinda comes out of nowhere, despite the last few material for the game establishing it.

Honestly I think most of the TCGs released within the past decade have not had rotation at all, and alot of them are chugging along just fine. Most TCGs that did rotation kinda just did it because they wanted to copy MTG/Pokemon without understanding why rotation was necessary for those games, and tended to die off pretty quick because of it.
Bans are obviously necessary since you can't really have balance patches for a physical product (erratas maybe, but most people despise them and they're a logistical nightmare, just look at YGO's erratas) and in the thousands of cards released each year there's bound to be some overlooked OP shit that slips through. But most TCGs don't (and shouldn't) have rotation nowadays. It's just not really needed, and are kind of a death sentence for any newly established TCG.

Nah he’s on point with this one. I got Palworld because I thought it was a funny twist on the monster collecting genre that you were mistreating them. I was quite disappointed that the optimal way to play was just being nice to them.
If I wanted to play a game where you’re nice to your monster buddies, I already have Pokemon, Digimon, Yokai Watch, and pretty much everything else in the genre.

Pat should totally play Rimworld, aka Dwarf Fortress for normal humans. It simplify things enough that you can play it as a straight up farming or industrial sim and being a polluter lets you unlock having a robot army and being a bio-engineered freak.

In regards to the Batman delay talk and such: it's wild to hear them say it's okay for things to take longer (which I agree to an extent), when they've both railed against things taking too long in the past. Furiosa took too long to come out (which it did). Final Fantasy 7 Remake is taking too to come out (which I don't have a stake in, admittedly.) New JoJo is taking too long (same as the previous).
It could just be personal bias, on both their and my parts. Thing I like but don't have a huge investment in: Take your time, it's chill. Thing I love and have a huge investment in: Every minute of delay is another drop of piss on my baby's grave.
Apologies for the tryhard metaphor, someone told me I was funny once and now it's everyone's problem.

i think the problem of it taking too long is more the frustration of announcing too early and/or total radio silence. also the jojo example is more on how its released then taking too long.

Since nobody else has mentioned it, they left out the end of the A24 Backrooms story. After a few hours of the copyright strikes occurring and Kane talking to them, they came out and made a statement that it was a mistake made by an AI copyright system that they had, and they reversed the claims. The situation was not ongoing, as Woolie was saying, it was resolved in less than a day.
