Just finished watching nier automata ver 1.1a and I have to say the visuals the fights everything was just perfect. How can these anime people bring out banger after banger is something that need to be studied for future generations. That being said here are a few thoughts I have about this anime.
[nier automata]Jackass name was not suitable for her. Did the translators make a mistake?
[nier automata]The child getting infected and spreading to everyone was very sad. It's like no good deed goes unpunished
[nier automata]Adam eve arc was pointless. Also defeating someone who could build a whole city was way too easy.
[nier automata]The ending didn't hit a hard as I expected. I mean what even was the plan? To destroy the moon to take away the proof that humans were extinct? And not even one android wanted to meet any human, for whom they're sacrificing their lives over and over again? That was a weak point of the anime.
[nier automata]However, I do think that humans beings already extinct would've hit harder in a video game after you fight battles with enemies. In the anime, it was nothing too extraordinary. It was just meh. I mean they never showed any humans. And we all know that humans like behaviour could be replicated by various creatures. So that wasn't surprising at all for me.
That being said, it is a very good anime and should be watched by everyone.

Hi, I'm looking for an anime that gives me the same feeling as episode 7 of Silent Witch or the first 6 episodes of Kimi ni Todoke i.e. the protagonist is bullied in some way and they and/or someone has to defend them. Bonus points if the character has low self esteem like Monica and Sawako or is constantly apologizing because they think "everything is their fault."

Playing catch-up today, I need to just accept at some point that I like Jaadugar. I feel like I watch new things very defensively so as not to get burned, and I should just put my faith in it and see what it's cooking up.
On a similar note, Goodbye Lara is way more enjoyable when I accept that AOTS it certainly is not and give some breathing room for its bumps and bruises.
Sparks of Tomorrow is just a generally solid show. I want more out of it and the MCs reminding me of Hyouka doesn't help, but I've got no major criticisms besides not really blowing my socks off. Like it's a solidly mid-tier offering from KyoAni, which in regular terms is a solid AOTY contender, and not much else. I can only hope that it can draw more eyes to the studio among newer fans (even though it won't).

KyoAni stuff has been solid but not all of it are certified bangers or anything. While their visuals are always amazing, they got their share of trashier work as well.
Sparks of Tomorrow kinda feels more like a PA Works original to me right now in terms of my general feelings towards it. Like it's perfectly fine but I did want my socks blown off and they are still very much on.

The praise they get from me, is that largely all their works are solid, and they run generally a good production cycle/studio. That said, yeah I agree, none of their stuff, would be shows I would be in a top ten list, and generally I like most of everything they put out.
VEG is actually a series, I am not that high on. Outside of a few episodes, that really stood out, most of it was pretty meh.
I haven't watched Sparks yet, though, if it is kinda meh, that is unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to that one. The aesthetic/concept looked awesome.

It's still early in the show, so there's a chance it might build towards something more. It's not an episodic show like VEG, so I'm willing to let it cook for now. But so far it is lacking a bit of pizazz.

It's been roughly a year since I've watched any anime. Has there been any what I would describe as "serious" anime that worth a watch released in that time? I'm not looking for goofy or cringy. To give some context, Dan Da Dan, Kaiju No. 8 and Jujutsu Kaisen have too much cringe for me. Examples of what I'd call serious would be like Vinland, Freiren, AoT, and Durarara!!. I'm cool with out there concepts, but I just want the people to act normally.

Nippon Sangoku, is probably the closest, thing to Legend of the Galactic Heroes in my opinion, in terms of it being a big macro political war/drama, set in a post apoc, rather than space opera setting. It does have some "expressive" comedy (the comparable to me would be something like FMA at times) however, the topics are largely serious, and there is some great dialogue.
I would second Journal With Witch too. If you are looking at upcoming titles, if you are a big fan of Vinland, I would keep an eye out for Historie next year, and Bugle's Call.

I'll be honest though, I'm not really sure exactly what you mean, since usually I hear "serious" to exclude fantasy.

I know that it will take a while before the game's remake will be released, but is anyone interested with a rewatch of the Persona 4 anime? (including Golden)
It will also be the 15th anniversary of the anime, after all.

If you believe that the general quality of anime has been on an upward trajectory over the last 5-10 years then it isn't actually unreasonable to consistently think that each given year is one of the best in history. This isn't even an entirely outrageous claim if you are more concerned about quantity than absolute quality because I do think that there are more pretty good shows per season now than at any previous point and I don't actually know that the number of truly great anime per year has any particular trend upward or downward.

I mean even if we accept that premise (which I would question myself) at some point saying it almost every year for the last decade makes it lose any and all significance. Like at some point you just generalize and say that this is n’t all that surprising and not act surprised that current year might just be the best year since you also called last year and the year before that the best too.

Out of 9 years, 5 have been the best year for anime ever and 1 is kinda hinted to be (2023) at least close. 1 doesn’t have any data (2019) and 2020 was 2020.
Like, saying “the best year ever” means little when you’re giving it out more than half the time.

Tbh, I kinda agree with him. Each year something comes and I think "damn, this is gonna be hard to beat next year", and every year something new equally strong comes.
The anime industry is having a lot of money being pumped into it, and for everything about the increasing commercialization and monopolization of the medium that leads to the slew of low-effort LN adaptations, the rising tide raises all ships and we're getting some real quality artistic shows and movies continously.

Eh. I think the state of the industry is… fine. We get a handful of good titles that make deep cuts into best of all-time contention but it’s rarely more than the usual 1-2 of most years, and I think especially on TV things are reaching an over-saturation point where things are moving back towards long adaptation instead of the shorter, tighter series that we saw last decade.
Like the number of top anime by my estimations are only slightly down from its highs last decade, but it’s important to note that it’s now much more diverse in terms of format, while the 2010s were absolutely dominated by TV. So while film has gotten better, it’s been balanced out by TV getting worse.
In short, calling almost every year for the last seven years the best ever is a bit much.

I think my favorite thing about Jaadugar may just be existing in its world. The amount of detail in routine and culture is astounding, the world feels so tangible and immersive. The last episode had so many scenes of characters going about their days, doing rituals or chores or preparing for a person's arrival, it's so delightful. Clearly the plot is about to ramp up, but I would not be upset at the prospect of just experiencing daily life forever in a setting this well realized.
I wish more people would just enjoy being in a location without needing anything to happen. Imo, that's one of the great joys of film and TV, and is an area that quite a few anime seem to excel at. Nothing interesting needs to happen for what you're watching to be interesting, doing nothing in a place that is interesting is interesting to watch and can be emotionally resonant.

For a few shows I feel the same way, but Jaadugar isn’t really one of them. These 5 second scenes here and there that show random no-name people doing the things you mentioned made me go “cool, they really did their research”, but not “holy shit I could watch this all day”. When irrelevant background characters doing historically accurate mundane daily life chores becomes too much of a focus, I’d rather just watch a documentary at this point, which actually goes in-depth on that stuff and not just in-depth for anime standards.
Exceptions exist ofc, like when it’s the main characters doing the mundane tasks in a SoL it’s a different story because then it’s the whole point of the show, whereas Jaadugar should be mainly about the life story of Sitara and not “how did mongols live back in the day?”, like the latter’s just gravy and shouldn’t be the main dish in this case, imo.
All this to say that I’m thankful as fuck that we’re getting into the meat of the story with the [Jaadugar]spy work next episode.

A documentary would not capture the same appeal. I am not talking about historical accuracy or research, though this appeal can often come about as the result of strong research. I'm not talking about like an intellectual curiosity about the setting and culture. Any series in any setting could capture this sort of appeal without any historical grounding, many fantasy and sci-fi series do; I mentioned Girls Last Tour to Salty for example. What I'm talking about is existing in the setting. I'm talking about the vibe of a place, the way it feels just to exist there without any particular context. Being there, entirely on its own, evokes emotion. The genre of the series doesn't matter for this either, many slice of life series do capture this appeal but so do many action series.
The idea is that simply being in a location feels wonderful, and that comes about as a result of detailed world building and atmosphere. I'm never craving any big plot twists in Jaadugar, even if they are welcome, because nothing they do in a place that feels so rewarding to just stand around in can be boring. It's not about any one scene with random people doing chores, but an accumulation of moments over time that add up to intense immersion and atmosphere; the appeal is a matter of tone. If this were a video game I'd enjoy just walking around and exploring without worrying about progressing the plot for more than a couple hours. I'm not sure I'm explaining it well, but I'm sorry if you don't feel this.

I certainly did not mean it that way. There are obviously many ways to enjoy a thing. But like I said in the original post, I wish more people thought about enjoying things this way more consistently. Not with this show in particular, just overall.

It's an acquired taste for sure. I see it a ton in the Pokémon fandom of all things and it really grinds my gears. Johto Journeys is criticized for being long and full of "filler" while XY like it's the greatest thing to ever happen to the franchise. Meanwhile, XY has some of the most boring episodic plots of the whole series and Johto Journeys is just a really fun series to get lost in with how it feels like it meanders from place to place.

Good lord did it not, they did their research beyond the assignment.
I don't even think it's that acquired. Maybe for the mainstream, but series where that's basically the whole point are plenty well liked (Girls Last Tour was the first thing to come to my mind), but people seem to be really inconsistent about it. I honestly don't think Pokemon is a great example either because Johto represents the opposite of my point: the setting of any episode is rarely very interesting even if the happenings of that episode are a lot of fun. The things that happen in each new location are what make it worth watching, if the characters weren't doing something there'd be nothing to latch on to because the random no-name cities Ash and co. visit have little in the way of culture or atmosphere or intrigue.
I'm talking about the opposite, where nothing is really happening in the episode but the location itself is so interesting and atmospheric and perhaps comforting that anything you do there, including nothing, is interesting just by virtue of being set in that location. Just existing there in any capacity is interesting and rewarding to watch. Jaadugar's most recent episodes had extensive scenes of characters doing chores and preparing food, as well as things like important plot developments being conveyed through shifts in the natural world, that were fascinating to watch because the setting is so beautiful and the culture is so interesting and well represented, but not because the things they were doing are interesting or fun in and of themselves. With a setting like this, it's really hard for a show to be boring imo, because just standing in it and looking around at it feels so good and immersive.

One thing I like about a lot of historical fiction manga is that they really do take their role as historical fiction seriously. Artists who take this stuff on will frequently do a lot of research on mundane things like fabric patterns and furniture design and whatever. There's something really magical when all that work really does make you feel like you've been transported there.

A lot of people want it, but this is a type of story that may trigger a bunch of people for different reasons.
At least mangaka had her previous manga adapted into anime (highly recommend Emma for anyone who likes historical and romance).

Agreed, and it's probably a big part of why more than a few of my favorite anime are period pieces. In that effort to make the time period feel tangible, they inevitably also focus on small rituals and routines that make the characters come to life too. Although I do think Jaadugar has been a step above most in this regard. Weirdly enough, I feel like historical fiction in anime and manga tends to be better at this than fantasy and sci-fi series, I guess researching and replicating is less intensive that coming up with those details yourself.

Life happened so I missed spring 2026. looking to catch up, and wondering what ended up nice in Spring - especially unexpected good ones. Looking into summer 2026 as well to figure out what I wanna watch.
What was on my list: Angel Next Door S2, Gals Cant be kind to otaku?, Marriagetoxin, Needy girl overdose, friends with the second prettiest, Smoking behidn the supermarket, Ghost in the shell, Kaiju Girl Cramelize, Forsaken Saintess Foodie Roadtrip.
Anyone else who enjoys these have some other recommendations, or something to maybe cut? SoL, comedy, mecha, romance usually end up being my go tos

From last season Klutzy Class Monitor and the Girl in the Short Skirt was a very nice romcom with emphasis on the comedy, with a great colorful style and some actual romantic progress. I far preferred Otagal to Second Prettiest, but if you enjoy Angel Next Door it might very well be your vibe.
From this season, I wasn't particularly impressed by Saintess Foodie Roadtrip, but Victoria of Many Faces and, to a lesser degree, All-Works Maid have been pretty surprisingly good. Victoria is a pretty sweet fantasy/historical slice of lifey drama/romance so far, and Maid has been a rather fun spin on the OP MC isekai and otome tropes.
Also, you should really check out Goodbye Lara, being pretty early in the season and it being an anime original means it's tricky to suss out what it will really turn out to be, but so far I feel like it has been practically a Ghibli movie in TV format.

The 2023 and 2024 vids were a little "more tame" since they also had the Worst and Trashiest parts in them too, but like... come on Geoff. The standard is apparently if Geoff Thew isn't saying "this is the best year for anime ever" then it must be a shitty year.

How could you tell?
I might do: Sum the week 3 karma of the top 10 shows for: this season, last season, the same season last year. Higher means either more engagement, a bigger audience, or both. It's confounded by r/anime engagement, though. 🤷

Most of that is just dumb youtube stuff. That being said Geoff has some weird hyper fixations that will make being very enthusiastic about stuff most people would consider slop and put down stuff a lot people respect, so it can be hard tell. I don't find him a very helpful generator of anime recommendations despite having some over lap in taste.

Geoff’s annoying cause he falls somewhere between critic and hypebeast. He talks himself up as the former but acts like the latter. He’s great at saying big words, but never has anything bad to say about anything remotely controversial to criticize.
At least when Gigguk says stuff I know he’s never really trying to be a full critic and is just a dude.

For example he brought up feeling gquuuuuux was too rushed and spent a lot of a podcast about eccentric family comparing it unfavourably to apocalypse hotel. I think he is just legitimately hyped about some quite weird stuff due to some hyper specific trashy quality they have. For most people this isn't enough to sell them on a show so it can be quite to tell what to take seriously.

Caught up with all my good stuff for the season!
Except the movies, but I also procrastinate a few days or years before watching movies.
Now, all that's left to do is to check out the garbage, most of which will be episode 1 drops.
Keeping 12 shows so far;
AOTS ranking after 3'ish episodes of everything:

- Dara-san (Already talked about it in a previous thread, but yeah this one is barely even horny; It's a lot more about world lore/character lore. And comedy).

- GGWP (It's fine, but it's not hitting as much as I thought. GG:NoRe might have been more my thing)
- Candy Caries (I like it, it's not 12th because it's bad, it's just that a 2 minutes short can't be my aots; If Milky Subway - a 10/10 - didn't do it, nothing will)

Tomboy -> Oh boy, I was wrong about her.
We're lucky Dara is an indifferent god. If she was evil, she'd be unstoppable. The resources available to deal with a malevolent god just aren't the same today as they were when she was sealed.
The kids always bring Dara offerings. Is it a Shinto thing (always bring a gift when you meet a god)? And all they want is to do leisure activities with Dara. We saw barbecue and a festival so far.

Early Summer 2026 tier list. Sorted left -> right within tiers. Thoughts for some shows:
- [Livid Lady - ]Fantasy revenge LN adaptation with an OP MC that's ready to throw down after one episode? Inject it in my veins. Arifureta S4 when?
- Exiled Heavy Knight - It's a GoHands isekai. Shocking that anything ranked above it.
- Kaiju Girl - Leaving it here but will be behind (moving to the English dub). Saw a few frustration comments from the AQRADT regulars after the third episode that I'll probably agree with.
- Victoria Faces - Adult leads mostly behaving like competent and responsible adults while not having an office job setting? More please. [Victoria Faces]Guard allowing her to keep a random child she found on the street for the night with no background info is questionable at best. Willing to handwave it saving an episode of justification.
- Insipid Prince - Mentioned after the first episode how tropey it is. Often a downside but this production isn't attempting to be serious and I like the occasional shitshow, so it gets a high rank. If more than a handful of series did this per year, I'd dislike them.
- [Oh Boy Was I Wrong About Her - ]A no cell phone plot in 2026? Ah, surely adapting a light novel whose Narou web novel started over a decade ago? Nope, this started during COVID. Anyway, I like how the girl pragmatically teases the guy, understands where to draw a line, and the guy isn't frustrating.
- Mobuseka S2 - More series with 4+ years between seasons should takes notes and include a few minutes of recap at the start. Also, this is the first LN series I completed (out of 4 total! (To save clicks - Bookworm, Arifureta, Sukasuka)), so glad to see my boy Leon on-screen again.
- Inept Villainess - Spent the first 5-10 minutes thinking "I've read this, right? I'm not crazy!" Removing the unique part of the title (Butterfly-Rat Body Swap) makes it hard to distinguish. IIRC, it soon involves [LN]archery and I have no idea why.
- Mushoku S3 - [Confession]Sat on this comment for over a week to let Mushoku shift back to Rudy's perspective so I could drop this two tiers after starting with those excellent training episodes. Then felt obligated to update other bullets, which took more time than I wanted.
- Red River - Deletes original comment. Episode 2 released and I am now whelmed.
- Legend 10 Year Last Stand - I would despise the blonde girl IRL. Love watching this idiot.
- C-tier - Some of you may be thinking "u/Komarist, if 6/8 of the C-tier entries are fantasy LN adaptations, why not watch better shows like [insert your seasonal favorite like World Is Dancing, Sparks of Tomorrow, GitS, Lara, etc.]?" I do not have a good answer. I often do not make good life choices. This is an example.

I guess we’re hitting that mid-season doldrums period where everything (except Bleach who wants to be different) has established itself with a few episodes and so now we’re just keeping pace until we reach the final stretch.
Nothing’s really gonna win or lose AOTS here, so there doesn’t feel like much to say, besides the fact that as the dust has settled, nothing’s really wowed me as to be a blowout contender in that contest so far.

modern setting where the main character is in middle or high school. i think the main character has black hair. the main character is always helping out his classmates and with tasks at school. he’s always complaining about how troublesome thing are but to him it’s way more troublesome NOT to do things than to volunteer for them. i think there was also a cat and it might have had some fantasy elements

I really don't want to criticize Jaadugar but after the previous episode I have to. There's too much time-skipping. Last episode covered 8 years but it doesn't feel like anything changed (here comes another rant about character design and how 8-years old, 16-years old and 24-years old Sitaras look almost the same). It doesn't feel like [Jaadugar] Fatima really changed as a person in 8 years. There were almost no scenes of Fatima and Sorghaghtani together so it's difficult to understand why Sorghaghtani now trusts Fatima enough to send her as a spy (which is a shame because Sorghaghtani was one of the most fascinating women of her era). Also, Jochi literally died off-screen and no one even acknowledged that
And I'm not sure if I should be optimistic about pacing in the future because this is one-cour show and [real life spoilers I guess] now it has to pack the last 17 years of Fatima's life into 9 episodes

Isn't that the idea though? Fatima herself remarks that nothing ever seems to change for her; that she's given many years of teaching and is no closer to getting the book back. The episode had so many scenes of daily living and routines because Fatima hasn't changed in spite of everything, she's really just adjusting to life there and forming a new routine instead of changing things. She even talks about how she's been in Mongolia for the same amount of time she was in Tus.
I don't think this is a flaw of the show, it's clearly aware of this and the end of the episode denotes the major shift away from that routine, with even the cinematography growing in ambition (all of those 3D camera moves and such) to mirror the increase in scope for the story. The manga is still ongoing so we're definitely not cramming an entire life in just this cour.

The manga is still ongoing so it's safe to say this first season is not going to be a full adaptation of her life. Besides that, can't really argue with you as your points have merrit, but personally I don't mind much since it means we're finally at the point where Sitara is starting to actually get to do stuff herself.

Some of the directing quirks in this show are pretty strange as well. I don't think they're "bad", but there are some elements that stand out as a little awkward for me. The oddly cartoony style they used in the flying scene in episode 2 and the little "fast forward" motion they did to signify time passing in E3 were a little unusual.

This concept in itself isn't exactly breaking new ground, but I had a thought about how much taste can matter when it comes to anime. Because the last time I watched a Naoko Yamada x Science SARU historical drama anime about a girl being caught up in a conflict far greater than herself with a unique artstyle, I bounced off of said artstyle so hard that it had a substantial impact on my overall enjoyment of the series. But now, while I wouldn't call it a selling point in itself, it looks good and doesn't bother me at all. I couldn't tell you what the actual difference is.

I would argue that it being a backlog day would be a plus.
It comes down to WiD vs. Clevetess for Monday vs. Wednesday. This one is tough to pick, surprisingly. I guess I lean in picking Monday then.
For the strongest still saturday. Bookworm, Iruma, Cat & Dragon, Yomi, Mongolia and Even Grow Up Show makes my favorite lineup in terms of quality and quantity. Altho Friday and Tuesday are close in terms of quality for me.

There's a post in Japanese from the studio that created the backgrounds for Sayonara Lara explaining that they were primarily created using analog methods. (Some cuts were done digitally.)
It also mentions the color script, which is like a "blueprint of colors" created before starting the actual production work. It primarily determines the background color and lighting strategy.

I thought the productions of Jaadugar, Lara, Sparks, TWID, Yani Neko and GITS were all on such a similarly high level that I’d be hard to single out a particular stand-out among them…until I watched today’s episode of Sparks which currently comes out on top, if only barely after also just having seen Ep3 of Lara. Every background artwork is a painting, superb character acting and reaction faces, extremely fitting OST were all already apparent in eps 1 and 2, but in 3 they also made use of some really creative and impressive camera angles and directing choices. Feels like merely calling it movie quality doesn’t even do it justice.
Currently sitting at top2 of the season for me and has good chances on becoming my AOTS if they don’t drop the ball in the story department. Really don’t get how some people are this lukewarm with this show, it’s the full S-tier package in my eyes.

Watched the Shiboyugi movie today, what a treat. Liked it just as much as the TV series, if not more. Especially the visual direction was once again on point, the dark gray/green color scheme of the island gave the whole thing such a unique hard to describe vibe and atmosphere, absolutely loved it. Can’t stress enough how much I adore Ueno’s unique style, both here and in Gimai Seikatsu. The sound design was great as well. There were a few things that could have been better, such as [heavy spoilers]Essei’s strategy, while being extremely creative, wasn’t actually all that smart and her somehow getting on the ship to steal a rifle and a speedboat felt a bit far fetched. Also would have liked to find out Maguma’s fate, did she just die off screen on the island on her own or did she survive the whole thing? Don’t really mind those things though, they didn’t pull down the film for me much at all.
Fingers crossed we’ll get a sequel once Ueno is done with Dengeki Daisy. The short after credits scene definitely did tease a sequel, but could unfortunately just be a “if you want to know more, get the LN” type deal.

Would u say I will like it if I didn't like the second half of Season 1. Basically I don't like too much philosophical stuff in my death games. Plus i see some complaints regarding slow pacing so I am kinda conflicted if i should try it or not?

I'm not smart enough to speak about the directorial/pacing differences between the two halves,
but In terms of overall game design its like at a half-way point between the 1st half and the 2nd half, leaning more towards the latter. So if you feel super negatively on those then probably not for you. It does a fair bit of callbacking to those arcs, too, so if you were checked out you may have some trouble.

I think the story was easier to follow, but as someone who really disliked the pacing in the original series, the movie was even worse in that regard. I feel like you could easily have cut out 15 minutes or more of random pauses and overly long establishing shots and removed nothing from the experience.

Yeah i wasn't a big fan of pacing either in Season 1. First two games were kinda perfect though. Plus i am already watching One Piece so idk if i wanna deal with one more pacing issue anime. Although it's nice to hear that it's easier to follow (that was one of my major complaint for second half games). I guess I will try to watch it at the end this season or when they announce a season 2.

The weird part was the movie was too fast and too slow as a novel reader. Saying that makes it really weird.
As far as this game in particular, I would say more than likely someone's thoughts on Golden Bath would be the same for this one.

Hope i remember this correctly. [Shiboyugi LN3]A few Maguma conversations were cut from the movie. First was Yuki approaching Maguma's trap-laden hideout and confirming Maguma knew about the hidden transmitters (reasoning that Maguma knew her body well enough to know something had been implanted). Second was Essay doing the same and backing out as she couldn't physically kill Maguma without stunning/paralyzing. Third was very brief with Maguma leaving her hideout and confirming Yuki had learned about the transmitters from bandages on arms+legs (lived btw). Don't recall the movie explaining that the pitfalls Yuki lured Essay into was Maguma's hideout. (LN content for Essay's strategy.)
Some of that left me wondering, "Why cut the cheap scenes that only require mouth flap animation?" I like Ueno's style for genres like suspense or horror. For Shiboyugi as a whole, felt a little too "this is for the readers" at times instead of expositing enough for anime-onlies. Skirted the line of show-don't-tell and likely stepped over it.
Will be hyped if we get another season as one of the games bamboozled me so hard.

The thing is, this game would have been perfect for suspense. Much like Scrap Building. But for whatever reason, it failed on that part where I thought it worked well for Scrap Building. Reading this part in the novel always captured my attention with each line. While here, it felt overly slow even just comparing it to S1 of Shiboyugi.
To also add the point of the anime continuing to fall in the trap of show never tell as an absolute rule. While the perspectives and insights of Yuki and Essei were good and very interesting. [Light Novel Vol 3]Like with Golden Bath, there are times when it really needed to explain stuff. I am like, how are anime-onlies not confused? Like, they don't explain the hidden transmitters at all.
I do get annoyed when anime-onlies discredit the novel's writing because of the inconsistencies and writing issues of the anime. The novel isn't any masterpiece by any means, but it's witty and catches you by surprise at times. The storytelling between game and game is very nice too. As there is a clear reason why the orders of the games are how they are. This is completely lost in the anime along with themes the novel originally has.
Even ignoring comparisons to the LN I did not like the movie in and of itself. Ueno's style is interesting, but that's about it for me.
I just think Ueno is better off doing more series like Gimai and the upcoming Dengeki Daisy. His style and his show never tell approach are much better in those than Shiboyugi.

Another Sunday, so it's time for my weekly ranking of my most popular screenshot albums.
The Ghost in the Shell is still going strong, and that's nothing surprising since Motoko's vacation in this week's episode was visually really nice ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
Yaniko is still pretty popular as well. Aisha also got a really good result, which is quite surprising since I thought that Roxy would be more popular this week.
Plus, I'm glad to see Naie here; she barely ended up in the ranking, but she did it, and she deserved it because her reactions were hilarious in the latest episode.
Unfortunately, once again, there are no albums from Goodbye, Lara and Jaadugar, imo the two best-looking shows this season :(

I’m liking Inept Villainess thus far, but I do have to say that I’m a bit disappointed with the OP. The song is good but the visual side of things is lacking.
I know that Doga Kobo can do better than this. Like, take for example Honey Jet Coaster or Annoying! San San Week which were both awesome. Not to speak of Test Me. For an otherwise good-looking production, the OP for Inept Villainess feels somewhat lazy in comparison.

I realized ive been unfair to yandere characters all this time. There is actually a single yandere in existence who did in fact elevate the story as opposed to ruining it and that is Claire from Gleipnir.
If you have any interest in seeing the one good yandere in anime, you should watch this show.

I thought whatsherface from Last Dungeon Boonies was a fun comedic character. Not sure I'd call that "elevating the story", but the series is a parody in the first place.

Nah, I tried to watch Draw This Then Die and I'm not impressed. It's not supposed to be 100% comedy so why every character is caricature?

Too many good anime this season to power through something that will be 7/10 at best. Sparks of Tomorrow will go the same way if dollar store Stark won't become interesting character in today's episode.
