MOD Looking for Story Thread #341
This thread is where all the "Looking for Story" requests go. We don't want to clog up the front page with non-story content. Thank you!

A NEW BUG ENTERS THE ARENA.
"Help! I can't edit my wiki!"
Hello! We haven't changed anything, Reddit did!
This is now a Known Reddit Bug that started on roughly 4/21/26, when Reddit decided to change something about how they handle the Wiki.
The Symptoms:
(on sh.reddit, the new version) when attempting to edit it comes back with "You do not have permissions to edit"
Some people (not all!) have stated that the "last edited by..." section at the bottom (where their username should be) is listed as [Deleted] (while it still says their name on my screen)
The Solution:
On desktop, change your url from www to old, so it looks like old.reddit.com/r/hfy/wiki/series/<title> (with your title), and the edit button should be along the top bar near where the name of the series is
The Problem:
For some people even using Old.Reddit doesn't work. Unfortunately, I do not have a solution at this time, aside from just... try again in an hour or so. It's worked for some people later.
Please send in a bug report every time you experience any of these issues.
The more bug reports sent, the more likely Reddit is to actually fix the issue.

Some time around late 2023, early 2024 I would listen to this audio book on YouTube while commuting to college.
It’s plot revolves around a galactic federation of aliens (including humans) that mostly live together peacefully. The opening scene is an attack by an aggressive outsider, which the aliens struggle to repel until humans decide to join the defense. In doing so, the humans - who up until then were seen as one of the weakest species - reveal their actual power. The story then centers on the political debate within the galactic federation on how to deal with the powerful humans.
I unfortunately never got to finish the audio book. Today, it crossed my mind again and I turned to Claude to help me identify it. In doing so I (unfortunately) learned that a) there is an entire genre of stories like these (I had never even heard of HFY before); b) the plot of these stories is almost always like the one I described; c) there have been hundreds of AI slop uploads on YouTube recently, making it difficult to find quality work.
All this meant that Claude was unable to find what I was looking for.
I’m therefore hoping this sub can help me find the story. Some details I remember:
- The narrator was a human narrator AND he used a voice filter or something like that to create the voices of the different aliens. So it sounded like a bunch of different voice actors when it was really just one guy.
- The story had book length; I remember the YouTube video being a few hours long. It was also not an obscure video, but rather had at least several ten if not hundred thousand views.
- It was pre-AI era (or at least at a time where AI was not as big as it is now). So no AI thumbnail, etc.
- I’m fairly confident the title had the word Humanity or Humans in it and was something like Why Humans are the most powerful species or Why Humanity is the most feared by everyone.
I hope it’s okay to ask this question here and maybe someone knows which story I am talking about. Cheers

Sounds like Why Humans Avoid War.
There's an audio narration of it by Adastra on YouTube, which is probably what you ran across.

Yes, that's it, thank you!
I ended up finding it myself. Somehow, ChatGPT got it right away, whereas Claude could not find it.

Hello!
There's this old story I remember reading a while ago (I think it was pre COVID?) with a human (male) who gets summoned into a alternate science fantasy reality and attends a school on a ring world I forgot exactly what it's called, but the main character had an older brother who was an outdoorsy type, iirc.
Anyone know how I can find it?

The deleted one you mentioned is Fires of the Sky, a series of 4 books by KingoftheRednecks about a stone age man getting kidnapped by aliens. They deleted their account, so all of the posts are gone as well, but you can probably find them with some help from the wayback machine or a reddit undeleter. The first two have wikis you can use for the chapter links. For the last two, I've linked the last chapter and you can use Waffle's comments to find links to the previous chapters.

Hi! Looking for a capter or a full story where the human MMC was enrolled in an alien academy, and at some point shows off how well he is able to throw things accurately at high distances. The other students treat it as a curiosity, but the academy and species are obsessed with safety so they lock the guy up in prison and say that the only way to get out is to surgically remove a ligament in the shoulder so that he isn't able to throw things anymore. The humans call in a Big Scary Guy to exfil the MMC and remove all humans from their planets.

Looking for a pair of HFY stories I heard years ago, read by Agro Squirrel on yt. They were both from the perspective of aliens.
The first I believe they were insectile, with castes(warrior, worker, etc.). A raiding party landed on earth and killed a few peasants who were getting water, before fighting a HRE army and getting run down by cavalry.
The second was a diplomatic meeting were humanity went the industrial hell scape route and are all heavily modified/ need equipment just to live. The human diplomat/ruler(can't really remember) gets into an altercation with the diplomat of another big tough race. Think the climax of it was the human killing/maiming the alien right in front of the gathering.

Looking for a story where an alien talks about being rescued by a human after a crash? And is talking to the parents and thanking them for the humans sacrifice/as the human died.
The plot twist/rug pull was that it was a child human that did it.
Probably read it at least 7 years ago+, one shot.

*Humans are tiny*
I remember a story, where humans are tiny and find refuge with their entire space ship in a single aliens space ship as sort of "human infestation in the store room", can you help me to find it? Roughly belongs to the "Humans are gremlins"-genre https://www.reddit.com/user/BigWuffle/ started I think. I remember in this story the alien is a solitary knight preparing for a battle fought with a lance (and perhaps supported by tiny explosions)
