It may seem early to say this, but G2 hard work is really paying off. I used to think it was crazy to try to skillcheck toplaners like Zeus or Bin with offmeta picks. But G2 held onto BB and keep using different picks and strategies to combat the Eastern teams over the past few years, probably the only Western team to do so. At this MSI they've really brought the fight by making the games very scrappy. Yes they got blown away by HLE in game 2 and 3 but Game 1 was still promising despite the loss.

I really feel like G2 have a better understanding of the meta this MSI, or at least a better vision of how they want to play the game at the moment and are able to execute as well, compared to previous years. I think they'll be competitive against BLG/HLE in their next series (with a fair assumption they beat LYON)

HLE also kinda farmed T1. Also HLE and T1 strengths are opposite not as in topside/botside but as in HLE has strong laners including botlane if needed and play a more straightforward honest game where they just gap you from the start and grow the lead. T1 has weak sololaners so they all in bot and even if they fall behind they have amazing teamfighting to bail them out "most of the time".
